Izmir University of Economics (IUE) has achieved a major milestone by ranking in the 401–600 band globally in the impact rankings announced by Times Higher Education (THE), a UK-based higher education evaluation platform. 

Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design have repurposed the Mavi Kortejo (Blue Cortijo) in Basmane, one of the city's most significant cultural heritage sites, into a residential or communal living space tailored for disadvantaged groups. 

Showcasing their creative ideas and unique designs at the event held under the theme 'Momentum,' the young designers received standing ovations from the crowd.

Mert Can Uçar, Berk Çoban, Arda Doruk Acar, and Mehmet Sadık Yılmaz, graduates of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), have developed a special application to encourage students to study. 

Through a 16-week collaborative effort by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), and local residents, 944 Street in Basmane was redesigned in line with children’s dreams. 

The “Dobidob” mobile education bus, launched in collaboration with İzmir University of Economics, İzmir Chamber of Commerce, and İzmir Metropolitan Municipality to instill recycling awareness in children, continues to meet with young students.

Students from the Departments of Civil Engineering and Architecture at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) carried out earthquake simulations by examining scaled models of 22 world-famous structures. 

İzmir University of Economics (IUE) student Türkan Şimal Geyik from the Department of English Translation and Interpreting won third place in the “14th Young Translators Contest” organized by the Directorate for EU Affairs.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) faculty members Prof. Dr. Celalettin Kozanoğlu and Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar have been granted a patent for the “fire wall” project they developed to extinguish forest fires quickly and prevent them from spreading over large areas.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Umut Can Adısönmez from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), has been awarded the “2026 Young Scientist Encouragement Award” by the International Relations Council (UIK), one of the most prestigious honors in the field.
