BIP-110 is a joke, the people who still want to fork don't understand Bitcoin at all.

I still don't understand how people can be in favor of such an irrealistic "fix for spam TX", especially after this epic fail.

I don't like ordinals myself, I find it extremely ineficient and technically ugly, so I was also surprised that Core would remove the size limit of OP_RETURN, instead of reading alarmist tweets I decided to read a bit why this decision was made in the first place.

And it make sense to remove that limit, "spammers" are leaveraging other mechanismes to inscribe their arbitrary data on chain and these methods are more damaging to the network and its ledger. It can extend the global UTXO-set forever, so removing the limit remove the incentive from using worst methods.

This makes much more sense to me than censoring valid TXs for multiple reasons.

• "Spammers" will eventually find other (worse) way to do their stuff in their TXs/blocs, removing the "old method" will not remove the will of that userbase. This will result in a cat and mouse game with no winner but time lost for a religious cause of what Bitcoin should be.
• Censorship directly contradicts Bitcoin's ethos
• Bitcoin is not a currency but a Network. Currency is only the first application. Andreas Antonopoulos understood this when he had read the whitepaper almost two decades ago
• Bitcoin is what it is, not what you want it to be.

I do believe that some BIP-110 promoters and defender where honest and did act in good faith for "saving Bitcoin". But Bitcoin doesn't need you to save it. It doesn't even care, ordinals are valid TXs within current Bitcoin consensus. You can try to change the consensus, you were free to soft-fork but what happend this week is just sad.

Creating a hard fork that had almost no chance of surviving, then promoting the change of PoW... Why? Are these "influencers" shitcoiners?
If you are not happy with Bitcoin mining industry being concentrated, about ASICs manufacturer being a cartel, about non-monetary use cases existing, about mastercard and BlackRock investing in Bitcoin companies, you don't need to make a ridicoulous fork with a new PoW design. We already have a "shitcoin" for that and guess what? It comes with built-in privacy and it's called Monero.

Bitcoin isn't perfect, but BIP-110 will not being able to "fix it". Bitcoin is corrupted, but so is the world. Bitcoin is not money but a decentralized network of trust that build an immutable ledger. Knotzies and BIP-110ers are not fighting for a better Bitcoin, they are part of a cult. They don't want to "fix Bitcoin", they want to control what the network is, and that's ust not how Bitcoin works.

If you believe in BIP-110 I am interested in why you think it could be technically successful. Because to me it seems like what these believers point as the "problem" has no real fix.
