Lately I've been going through my oodles and oodles of old photos, nearly all of which are of trees and mountains and tents, rather than doing what I should be doing which is finishing up this latest batch of knives and/or coming up with new content.
And sometimes, rocks.
So on the topic of rocks, I'm rather fond of this one. Here's yet another trip down memory lane, shot with my wizened old Canon SX130 IS (which I still have). I found this rock strata inside a shelter cave somewhere in the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. The latter is the sole compelling reason to ever venture to Kentucky, and these days when you get there I advise you to grab your backpack and your tent and optionally the largest firearm you can muster and fuck off straight into the woods so you don't have to see or deal with anybody.

The gorge is full of some rather impressive sandstone arches and other natural structures, some of which you can clamber on, around, or under. From various angles you can produce quite surreal abstract shapes out of things which are nevertheless actual physical natural objects.

Rock climbing is allowed in various areas here, and I find this vastly preferable to just standing around on the cordoned off overlooks by all the car parks, which will inevitably end up with you just taking the same pictures as everyone else.

Get a little height on the matter and you can probably find something much more interesting, albeit probably 6" from your face, and with any luck which nobody else has already documented and posted a zillion pictures of already.
