Seeing as it's not installed on anything since 8.1 I would be really really shocked.

Well not really, I have seen systems uses by governments and infrastructure.

From the Wikipedia article. A CD recorder writes data to a CD-R disc by pulsing its laser to heat areas of the organic dye layer.
