SÜREYYA SERDENGEÇTİ TOLD GLOBAL CRISIS AND TURKEY

Former Central Bank President Süreyya Serdengeçti made a speech in the conference on “Global Financial Crisis and Its Effects on Turkey” organized by İzmir University of Economics Department of International Trade and Finance and said that the place where the financial crisis was still not clear so the government had to analyze the crisis well and think about public finance measures. Serdengeçti stated that today, making an agreement with IMF was obligatory and said, “We lost time at the beginning, and the measures are announced piece by piece. Canceling out stoppage and decrease in VAT were not very beneficial.”
