THE RESEARCH ENLIGHTENS THE WAY FOR NEW ANTIBIOTICS
A new era has started in the fight against bacteria. Assist. Prof. Dr. Osman Doluca from the Department of Biomedical Engineering is going to reveal the roles of the key structure that they have previously discovered in the DNA of the E.coli bacteria within the framework of the TUBITAK 3501 Project Support, thus exploring new ways of fighting with harmful bacteria. This will illuminate the future studies for developing new antibiotics to fight bacteria.
NEW STEPS FOR FIGHTING DRUG RESISTANCE IN CANCER TREATMENT
Literature indicates that the development of drug resistance against the cancer drugs may influence the success of the treatment negatively. Scientists are going to develop a three- dimensional cell model under laboratory conditions so as to reduce the resistance against the drugs prescribed for liver cancer, and to make the treatment effective. Therefore, the reason why human body resists the drugs during the treatment is going to be investigated.
NEW SCIENTIFIC PROJECTS IN THE PHYSICS DEPARTMENT OF IUE
IUE Department of Physics attracts attention with its TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) projects. As part of the TÜBİTAK 3501 Project entitled Synchronization in Quantum Networks, Dr. Göktuğ Karpat, associate professor at IUE Department of Physics, will analyse the correlations among the quantum mechanical systems which form an interactive network. Thanks to the development of new fields such as quantum computing, quantum information processing and quantum cryptology, the research, which will be supported by TÜBİTAK for three years, aims to develop an understanding on the quantum networks and the synchronization phenomenon that can emerge on these networks.
