MUSICAL FOR A YOUNG AUDIENCE
Kindergarteners enter the enchanted world of theater with “The Little Black Fish”, a children’s musical where the students of Child Development Program, Vocational School of Health Services, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), feature in. The musical, prepared as part of the IUE Children and Music course, aims to reach to almost one thousand kindergarteners in Izmir.
WORLDWIDE FAMOUS DESIGNER IN İZMİR
Phil Cleaver, the guest professor of the Department of Visual Communication Design at İzmir University of Economics last week, is a world-renowned graphic designer who has designed the VISA logo that almost everyone carries in their pockets. Cleaver began his career as a graphic designer with Alan Fletcher and Anthony Froshaug. He worked in Pentagram in New York, TD in Holland and Wolff Olins in London for many years and established Et Al Design consulting firm in London in 1992. Phil Cleaver, who is also a member of the Monotype Museum and the Royal Art Society, also teaches art and design at Middlesex University. The work of the designer who has worked with many famous brands and designed many books is also included in the permanent collection of Victoria & Albert Museum.
HUMOR ON CAMPUS
Yiğit Özgür, Cihan Ceylan, Fırat Budacı, cartoonists of the famous humor magazine, Uykusuz, met with students as part of the Spring Events of Izmir University of Economics (IUE). “IUE Best of Year '18 Uykusuz’ Humor Magazine” titled event took place at the Conference Hall. The cartoonists, who chatted with the students, stated that humor magazines were experiencing economic hardship; however, they would continue to publish their magazine.

Izmir University of Economics, Vocational School of Health Services, Medical Laboratory Techniques Program, who educates medical lab technicians, the secret heroes of laboratories that play an important role in diagnosis of diseases, celebrated Medical Laboratory Professionals Day.
AS YOU BUILD YOUR FUTURE
Economist, Journalist, TEDx Speaker Emin Çapa has been a guest speaker at a series of conferences titled, “The Campus of Finance and Development”, an event organized by Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Vocational School. In his “As You Build Your Future” titled speech, Çapa reminded that the world was in a continuous transformation, and it was important to be aware of this rapid transformation.
SHINING STARS OF IZMIR IN CHINA
Second foreign language instruction at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), where medium of instruction is English, is shaping the life of students. Betül Akçakaya, a senior at IUE Department of Translation and Interpretation, who is taking Chinese as a second foreign language, came in first place at the Turkey elimination for the 17th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for International University Students.
IUE VOCATIONAL SCHOOL'S CONTRIBUTION TO “GENÇBIZZ” ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM
Twenty Lecturers of Vocational School of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) are mentoring entrepreneurial high school students in collaboration with Genç Başarı Eğitim Vakfı (Junior Achievement Turkey-JA Turkey), as part of “GençBizz” Company Program. IUE academicians are preparing youth, who is going to shape the ecosystem of the future, for business world. Upon completing their training program on mentoring provided by JA Turkey, IUE Vocational School lecturers started to volunteer for 20 projects of 14 highschools1 located in Izmir.
DESIGN COURSE IN CHINA
Jovita Sakalauskaite, Lecturer at Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), is teaching the Chinese students at the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University located at Beijing, the reflection of fiber art on fashion design and traditional Turkish art via three-dimensional felt design.
DIFFERENT “ARTICHOKE” RECIPES FROM IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS CHEFS
Izmir Economics chefs turned artichoke recipes into world cuisine flavors. The young chefs created new flavors with artichoke in addition to traditional tastes at the "4th Urla International Artichoke Festival", co-organized by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Urla Municipality, and Izmir University of Economics.
ADVICES BY OZINCE FOR THE DIGITAL ERA
Ersin Özince, Chairman of Board of Directors, İşbank, talked about the digital transformation of the banking industry and reported that 88% of banking procedures took place at a digital environment. Özince adviced students to learn foreign languages and programming languages. Özince, invited by Faculty of Business, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), participated in the “Banking in Digital Era: Where Does İş Bank Stand?” titled chat.
