KIDS WILL LEARN BIOLOGY IN A FUN WAY
Children will learn about types of species, their evolution, and formation in a fun way. Asst. Prof. Dr. Seçkin Eroğlu, Lecturer, Department of Genetics and Bioengineering, Izmir University of Economics, is trying to find answers for types of species in “Bilbi ile Bilim” (Bilbi and Science), the first of the children’s book series which he co-authored with Deniz Hasret.
TRAINING COURSE FOR DOCTORS
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Medicine will be organizing “Practical Solutions on Hand and Upper Extremity Soft Tissue Defects Flap Training Course on Cadaver” for the first time in Turkey for surgical assistants of Orthopedics and Traumatology, and Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetics Surgeries. Sixteen physicians will receive training between the dates of March 31 – April 1 at IUE Faculty of Medicine, Division of Surgical Sciences, Department of Anatomy laboratories. This free of charge training course will allow physician assistants to experience hands-on training from its experts on surgical procedures to treat all kinds of defects that prevent or complicate using hands.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) brought students and graduates together with human resources managers as part of the Career Days event to get them familiar with business world, and help them shape their career. Human resources officials of 50 companies and representatives of 13 international universities interviewed with graduates and students.
PARTIES CAME TO AN AGREEMENT ON 223 THOUSAND 400 CASES IN TURKEY
Turkey adopted the arbitration system in justice. 223 thousand 400 cases nationwide were resolved through arbitration in 2017 within the framework of Ministry of Justice’s "restorative justice" system, a system of criminal justice which focuses on the rehabilitation of offenders through reconciliation with victims and the community at large. Orhan Cüni, Head of Department of Alternative Resolutions, Directorate General for Criminal Affairs, Ministry of Justice, reported that the 223 thousand 400 files made up 20% of the cases in Courts of General Jurisdiction.
‘DIGITAL IDENTITY MARKET EMERGES IN TURKEY’
The experts discussed the blockchain system, a digitized, decentralized, public ledger of bitcoin and all other cryptocurrency transactions, in Izmir. The “Blockchain and Unchain Economy” titled conference, which was moderated by Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar, Vice Rector of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), took place at Izmir Chamber of Commerce. Prof. Dr. Coşkun Küçüközmen, Lecturer, IUE Faculty of Business, Gökhan Seçkin, CEO, Kimlic, İlker Oğuz, CMO, Kimlic & Blokzincir, and Kadir Kurtuluş Vice Chairman, Blasea (Blockchain Association of Eurasia) attended the conference, which was co-organized by IUE Technology Transfer Office, IUE Embryonix Teknoloji A.Ş, IUE Izmir Sciencepark, and Izmir Chamber of Commerce. The experts pointed out that blockchain, which is based on the principle of validation of money flow from multiple sources at the same time, was a new concept in Turkey although a growing digital identity emerged worldwide.
GLOBALIZATION AND URBAN NETWORKS MEETING
Union of Municipalities of the Marmara Region (MBB) and Izmir University of Economics (IUE) co-organized “Globalization and Urban Networks Meeting”. Role of cities in economics, politics, transportation, tourism, and migration was discussed at the meeting coordinated by MBB Center for Urban Policies and supported by City and Society Association.
IZMIR UNIVERSITIES’ ‘OLIVE BRANCH’ SUPPORT
Izmir based universities will support "Operation Olive Branch" by Turkish Armed Forces in Afrin, through activities and events promoting Turkish culture instead of celebrating spring fest this year. Dokuz Eylül, Kâtip Çelebi, Yaşar Universities, and Izmir Democracy University agreed to change the scope of spring festival upon the recommendation of Student Council of Izmir University of Economics (IUE).
DRESSING NATURE
IUE fashion designers colored the nature. Students, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and Lecturer Jovita Sakalauskaite, added more color to nature with textile waste.
IUE STUDENTS CAPTURED “STREETS”
Students of Department of Visual Communication Design, Faculty of Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), projected the concept of “street” in the photographs. Students exhibited the photos they took on portrait, object, and landscape, and primarily on the concept of street at Izmir Chamber of Commerce with the attendance of Ekrem Demirtaş, the President of IUE Board of Trustees.
