IZMIR ECONOMICS: THE ADDRESS FOR ENTERPRISE APPLICATIONS
Students of Department of Logistics Management, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) received their training certificates on “SAP” (Systems Applications and Products), used for production, stock, and number of goods sold, numbers of materials purchased, and follow up of staff and data control in companies. 43 students, who received SAP software training as part of the SAP – University Collaboration program by world’s largest inter-enterprise software company, are ready to enter the business world.
NUTRIENT OR POISON?

'WE NEED TO MAKE SERIOUS PROGRESS IN PhD EDUCATION'
Graduate School of Health Sciences, Izmir University of Economics held a “Graduate-Post Graduate Student Supervision in Biomedicine and Health Sciences: ORPHEUS Perspective” titled workshop. It has been pointed out that there were 430 thousand 215 Master’s students and 91 thousand 262 PhD students in 2016 – 2017 academic year in Turkey, and that serious progress was needed to be made in PhD programs.
COOPERATIVE BENEFITS
The shareholders of Tire Dairy Cooperative (Tire Süt Kooperatifi), which was awarded with the best rural development award by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), want their children to run the family business. Department of Sociology, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) conducted “A Sociological Research on Tire Dairy Cooperative” titled field study. The study revealed that 43.2% of the producers want their children to keep the business running.
LIFELONG LEARNING CENTER FOR URLA
Interior architects of Izmir University of Economics designed the Women Producer Market of Urla (Former Repair Shop) as a lifelong learning center. The project designed by second year students of Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), allows the space to become more functionalized with different concepts for women, children, university students, and the elderly.
GLOCALZONE RECEIVES SUPPORT FROM ACADEMICIANS
The “Glocalzone”, an online marketing platform established by the entrepreneurial students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) to help people order products from other countries, which are hard to find in their country via travelers, received support from academics. Faculty Members Taylan Özgür Demirkaya and Serdar Savaşan provided seed funding worth of 1 million TL for the entrepreneurial students. Academicians’ support increased environment of trust in students’ venture.
DESSERTS TO WATCH OUT FOR DURING THE SUGAR FEAST!
The experts warn about staying away from desserts that increase blood sugar quickly as people get ready to prepare desserts for the sugar feast with the Ramadan ending. They point out that the dessert consumption will increase, and that the body turns excess glucose into fat.
BE A PART OF VCD
The collective exhibition of students of Department of Visual Communication Design (VCD), Faculty of Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), is opened at Mavibahçe Shopping Center. The slogan for the exhibition, which is open until June 25, is “VCD Çok Güzel, Gelsene (VCD is nice, Come Be a Part of It)".
IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS HOSTED THE AWARD CEREMONY FOR KANGAROO MATHEMATICS
Students, who sucecssfully passed the “Kangaroo Math Contest” organized by the Advisory Board of Kangaroo Mathematics Turkey, received their awards at a ceremony held at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). The International Kangaroo Mathematics Contest originated in France in 1991 and quickly became very popular with students all over the globe. Several years later the International Association “Kangourou Sans Frontières” was founded, which is now responsible for organizing the world-wide event to promote mathematical thinking and stimulate an interest in math.
DESIGNS FOR SUSTAINABLE LIVING
Third year students of Department of Industrial Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) exhibited projects they designed as part of “Product Design and Management” course, coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Deniz Deniz and Asst. Prof. Onur Mengi of IUE Department of Industrial Design. Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Interior Design and Visual Design Team of IKEA Izmir, lecturers and students attended the “Sustainable Living” themed exhibition held in collaboration with Izmir IKEA.
