IMAGINATIVE SCIENCE FOR CHILDREN
Science is becoming more colorful and entertaining for 160 children at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). Kindergarten and elementary school students are developing creative thinking, problem-solving skills with the “Düşlerle Bilim (Imaginative Science)” project. 80 preschool and 80 elementary school students from Izmir are both enjoying their summer holiday as they are being acquainted with science and art under the supervision of expert trainers.
EFFECTIVE LEARNING TECHNIQUES FOR GENERATIONS Y AND Z
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) meets the educational needs of new generation students with its innovative system. The University uses technology actively in its education process for generations Y and Z, who get bored of long hours of classes, want to participate actively in learning processes, and are engaged in multi resources when it comes to knowledge.
PROF. DR. GÜL GÜNER AKDOĞAN HAS BEEN AWARDED THE FEBS HONORARY DIPLOMA
Prof. Dr. Gül Güner Akdoğan, Faculty Member of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Medicine and Director of IUE Graduate School of Health Sciences, Former Member of the Executive Board of Turkish Biochemical Society (TBS) and President of TBS Izmir Branch, has been awarded the “Diplome d’Honneur” (Honorary Diploma) by FEBS (Federation of European Biochemical Societies). FEBS Executive Committee honored Prof. Dr. Gül Güner Akdoğan for her outstanding contributions as the Chair of FEBS Education Committee for nine years.
IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS IS THE RIGHT CHOICE TO SHAPE YOUR FUTURE
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) is going to shape the future of the youth until August 14 with a team of 81 people. 17 guidance counselors and 60 students will provide guidance services to the prospective university students at IUE Conference Hall. Mahmut Özgener, Chairman of the Executive Board of Izmir Chamber of Commerce, and President of IUE Board of Trustees, stated that a rapid change has started in all areas of life. “The University kept up with this change by enhancing its both academic and technological infrastructure. We would like to welcome all prospective students at Izmir University of Economics who want to shape their future,” said Özgener.
ART EXHIBITION IN CHINA
Jovita Sakalauskaite, Lecturer at Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), will be representing Turkey in China at an international exhibition entitled, “A Different Voice: Fiber Art in Expression of a Diligence/Anxiety”, among 19 artists from countries such as America, China, Poland, Argentina, Canada, England, Pakistan, Spain. Sakalauskaite will display three-dimensional sculptures she created with needle felting.
STUDENT SATISFACTION AT IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) ranked 21st in overall student satisfaction among 172 universities and ranked 12th among 63 foundation universities across Turkey. The 2018 results of “Turkey’s University Satisfaction Survey”, held by the University Assessment & Research Laboratory, have been announced. The survey conducted by collecting data from more than 26,000 students studying at 172 universities comprising 109 state and 63 foundation universities reveals the top universities by “student’s level of satisfaction”. Student answers were based on six evaluation criteria such as “Satisfaction with Learning Experience”, “Satisfaction with Campus Life”, “Academic Support and Interest”, “Satisfaction with the Institution’s Management and Operation”, “Learning Opportunities and Richness of Resources” and “Personal Development and Career Support”. Izmir University of Economics ranked in the A and A+ group, which is known as the highest satisfaction level.
‘BASMANE’ DESIGN ON ITS WAY TO VENICE
Basmane district of Izmir, which became a residential area for different groups of people from different nations, turned into an area of education, accommodation, library for foreigners thanks to the future architects of Izmir University of Economics (IUE). The plans designed by students for Basmane have been granted an award at the senior design project competition organized by Association of Izmir Freelance Architects. İrem Kaleci, student from IUE Department of Architecture, has been granted the Venice Architecture Biennale trip award. Projects by students Cansu Nur Tatar, Deniz Taşkın, and Onur Polat also qualified to be exhibited.
ITALY GRANTS IZMIR WITH DESING AWARDS ONCE AGAIN
Graduates of Department of Industrial Design, Faculty of Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) returned from the 2018 A’Design Award and Competition with awards. A’Design Award and Competition is a design contest held in Italy where thousands of people apply from 80 countries across the world.İsmail Güneş Ötken, Graduate of IUE Department of Industrial Design (2015), has been granted the famed Silver A' Design Award for his Sound Amplifier Project “Petalis”. Mert Karaman, who graduated from the same department in 2016, has been granted the Bronze Award on behalf of Gravity Design and Consultancy firm.
HIGH SCHOOLERS DESIGN OUR FUTURE WITH ROBOTS
High school students ranking the highest at the “Energy-Efficient, Environment-Friendly Robot" competition, held by Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Engineering, received their awards. Students showcased their various designs such as minesweeping and waste separating robots, robots that give commands via brain waves or mow grass. They received their awards from IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan, IUE Faculty of Engineering Dean Prof. Dr. Yaşar Güneri Şahin, and Vice Dean Dr. Görkem Uçtuğ.
