IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM
The experts point out that education and therapy in autism, a neurological and developmental disorder, is vital, and children can profoundly benefit from early intervention in school through special and individual education. Department of Psychology, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and IUE Psychology Club co-organized “Autistic Spectrum Disorder: A Look at What We Know” titled conference, where Prof. Dr. Ayşen Baykara, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, attended as the guest speaker.
DR. PINTO WINS AN AWARD FROM THE GRAVITY RESEARCH FOUNDATION
Asst. Prof. Fabrizio PINTO, of the Izmir University of Economics, has been selected for Honorable Mention, a prestigious award given by the “Gravity Research Foundation” in its yearly competition for the best and most well-written essays about gravitation, its theory, applications or effects. This is the eighth time Dr. Pinto receives an award in the last twenty years.
URLA WILL GET A MAKE OVER BY IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
The development of “Street and Facade Improvement Projects”, at 3 different location as part of the collaboration protocol between Urla Municipality and Izmir University of Economics (IUE) has been completed. 40 IUE graduate students and students from Department of Architecture presented their work to Urla Mayor Sibel Uyar in 8 groups.
EPI.LOG END-OF-YEAR EXHIBITION
Department of Cinema and Digital Media, Faculty of Communication, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) displayed the works of its third year and fourth year students at the “EPI.LOG End-of-Year Exhibition. Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan, IUE Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar, Prof. Dr. Filiz Başkan, and Prof. Dr. Ebru Uzunoğlu, Dean of IUE Faculty of Communication, visited the exhibition.
‘DIGITAL CITY’ INTERPRETATIONS OF IUE ARCHITECTS
Students of Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) will represent Izmir with two different projects at “FABFEST” design festival hosted by University of Westminster in London. IUE architects, who came in first place in the category of “Hawthorn impressive design”, received Hawthorn money award, and a third prize in the best architectural design category selected by the jury members last year, will be displaying their projects on this year’s theme, “Digital City”, in London. The young architects stated that they wanted to come back to Izmir with awards.
THEATER MASKS BY YOUTH WITH DOWN SYNDROME
Youth with Down syndrome displayed their fine motor skills and created theater masks. Under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Duygu Ebru Öngen Corsini, Faculty Member of Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), the youth used waste and recycled paper and made masks that are used in performance arts.
IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS LAUNCHES NEW LAB FOR INVENTION
Students of Faculty of Engineering, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) will be involved in inventions. The new laboratory facility including 13 different units such as Industry 4.0, Aerospace, Electrical and Electronics, Biomedical, Drawing and Design, Computer Games Design, Molecular Research, Cell and Tissue Culture, Biotechnology, Robotics and Mechanics, Cloud and Advanced Simulation, Computer Laboratory, and Clean Room opened for research and innovation at Izmir University of Economics.

DANCING IS NOT BOUND BY AGE!
Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Folk Dance Club shared their stage with the members of Gaziemir Municipality’s Ata Evi Center for Healthy Aging. Members of the Center danced ‘Harmandalı’ and ‘Damat Halayı’ with young students. Ata Evi Team mesmerized the audience. Dancers, between the ages of 18 – 85, performed Zeybek on the stage.
