ARTISTIC LOOK TO TURKISH CULTURE
Historical artifacts and cultural elements of Turkey are brought together with illustration. Lecturer Angela Burns, Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics turned tourist attracting cultural elements such as Turkish breakfast, blue voyage, the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul into three dimensional postcards composed of illustrations.
INTERNATIONAL DIMENSION OF SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Students will carry out their social responsibility projects through collaboration with universities in the European Union (EU). As part of an EU project, partnered by Izmir University of Economics, students who enroll in “Social Entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility” course will both carry out their own social projects and work with businesses in this field.
A KITCHEN WORKSHOP UNITING HEARTS
Delicate work in the kitchen softens hearts and improves communication. In his cooking workshop, Mehmet Can Altunay, an entrepreneur chef from Izmir University of Economics, shares his kitchen with people of all ages. Chef Altunay says that kitchen is also a place of emotions where they touch people’s hearts. Being a graduate of IUE Culinary Arts and Management Department, Can Altunay, introduces new tastes to children, teenagers and families in Roka Kitchen Workshop.
EYE HEALTH AND QUALITY OF SUNGLASSES
Sunglasses help protect the eyes. While they are just an accessory for some, sunglasses protect the retina from ultraviolet (UV) rays. Experts, who recommend people not to stay under the sun for a long time especially in summer, underline that people should choose high quality sunglasses and consult an expert before purchasing a pair of them.
‘WOMAN’ DEPICTED BY FELT ON HER WAY TO URUGUAY
Describing the presence, fertility and death of woman, by using felt in their works, artists from IUE will represent Izmir at “The 7th WTA International Biennial of Contemporary Textile Art. Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, the Head of the Department of Fashion and Textile Design at Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, and Instructor Jovita Sakalauskaite at Izmir University of Economics will present Turkey’s contemporary artistic works on the biennial event, which will be held in Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay, with the participation of artists from 75 countries.
NEW ERA IN INTERNET SHOPPING
Customer approval will be required for online shopping by August 17 based on the decision by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK). IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS WELCOMES 1912 NEW STUDENTS
Izmir University of Economics is excited to welcome 1.912 new students based on the undergraduate placement results announced by OSYM (Student Selection and Placement Centre). According to OSYM, Izmir University of Economics, with 1.273 undergraduate and 639 associate program placements, will be educating students that will shape the future.

We prefer “visiting relatives” on our holidays or travels. Based on the data by Turkish Statistical Institute (TSI), primary purpose of trip was “visiting relatives” with 72.1% in the first quarter of 2017. The secondary purpose of trip was “health” with 10% and the third was “travel, leisure, holiday” with 8.5%.
