SHOULDERING THE BURDEN OF ECONOMY
Turkey spent a total of 526 billion Turkish Liras with credit cards in 2015. The number of banking cards surpassed 171 million in Turkey in 2015, a 15 percent increase from the previous year, making the country the largest card-carrying market in Europe, the Interbank Card Center (BKM) has said in a written statement. Halit Soydan, Lecturer at IUE Department of Economics, and Former Managing Director of Yapı Kredi and Garanti Banks, pointed that the citizens had to shoulder the burden of economy, and domestic savings rates needed to be increased to experience a steady economic growth.

Digital game sector’s most important game development organization Global Game Jam’s (GGJ) Izmir leg will gather software developers, designers, and members of computer world together at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). The event, with 105 participants, 11 jury members, and an organization team of 20 people, will begin on January 29 at IUE Conference Hall.
TRAINING COURSES TO MAKE MATH MORE INTERESTING
Mathematics teachers will discover ways to make “math” class more interesting for students. Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Continuous Education Center (IUECEC) will offer Vedic, Montessori, Singapore Math Trainer Training courses for math, physics, and chemistry teachers and prospective teachers. Trainings, co-organized by “Thales Mathematics Museum” and coordinated by IUE Continuous Education Center, will lecture the educators on how to teach math the fun way via tools, games, etc.
USER FRIENDLY BOATS READY IN MAY
The boats designed by Izmir University of Economics (IUE) with a slogan “2 yaka 5 dakika (2 shores in 5 minutes)”, will begin Istanbul Bosporus marine transportation in May. Interior designs of 14 double ended boats by IUE EKOTAM Design Research and Application Center for Dentur Avrasya are almost complete. The first boat will carry the passengers comfortably between Usküdar – Beşiktaş in 5 minutes.
‘GRADUATE DEGREE IS A FORK IN THE ROAD’
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) started enrollments for Master’s and Ph.D. programs for spring semester for youth and professionals who want to hold a graduate diploma and choose a different path for their careers. Applicants will get a chance to improve themselves on a wide variety of subjects from electronics engineering to finance, from logistics management to health institutions management offered with thesis or non-thesis options as well as distance learning.
CONCILIATION AND ARBITRATION TRAINING BY IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
Judges, prosecutors, and attorneys will receive training on conciliation and arbitration at Izmir University of Economics. IUE Continues Education Center (IUECEC) will provide 25 hour Conciliation on Punishment Disputes Training and 48 hour Arbitration Training for approximately 250 judges, prosecutors, and attorneys registered to Izmir Bar Association. The participants will learn how to prevent disputes between the offender and the victim.
FUTURE VERSION OF GUZELBAHCE BY YOUNG ARCHITECTS
Students of Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) are designing the future of Güzelbahçe. The students also renewed the old Türk Ticaret Bankası (Turkish Trade Bank) located on Mimar Kemalettin Street and transformed it into a modern library in 2020.
IUE SUPPORT TO PHYSICIANS
Physicians will receive graduate education at Izmir University of Economics. A protocol was signed between IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen and Suat Kaptaner, Chairman of Executive Board of Izmir Medical Chamber, for the members of the Chamber which qualifies them a 25% discount in tuition fees of graduate programs at Izmir University of Economics. The members, employees, their spouses, children, and siblings will also benefit from the discount at IUE Graduate Schools of Business, Natural and Applied Sciences, and Social Sciences as part of the protocol.
