Mehmet Şimşek, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, stated that the global economy was facing significant uncertainties, and that the markets were in disarray in his speech at the 46^th Ordinary General Meeting of Turkish Industry & Business Association (TUSIAD). As Turkey has the potential to save almost 13% of the energy it consumes, the amount of energy lost is major. The amount of energy wasted reaches 4 billion dollars compared to current oil prices. Turkey loses approximately 4 billion dollars every year due to the fact that energy conservation is not taken into account in the construction of old buildings used for housing.

IUE Fashion Designers worked a miracle by achieving first, second, and third place at the 7^th Bridal Design Competition organized as part of 10^th If Wedding Fashion Show- Wedding Dresses, Suits, and Evening Gowns Fair. Tuğçe Görgülü, junior at IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design, came in first place, İpek Aygül, graduate of IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, came in second, and Gülden Yaman, senior also from the same department, came in third place among 507 contestants. Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, congratulated the winners, who made it to the top 15 finalists, at the exhibition hall and said that Turkey trained youth who was capable of creating their own fashion, brand, and designs. The winner of the competition Görgülü received a job offer from Abdullah Salkım, CEO of Bianco Vita.  

Turkey made 5 billion dollars by selling property to foreigners last year, and expects to double that amount this year. Prof. Dr. Hakan Yetkiner, Lecturer, Department of Economics, Izmir University of Economics, reported that Turkey got rid of its fears on selling property to foreign nationals lately, and liberalized the markets through regulations that came into effect on various dates.  

New games of the digital world have been designed at Izmir University of Economics in 48 hours. Global Game Jam’s (GGJ) Izmir leg took place at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) with 105 participants. 18 brand new computer games were developed after 48 hour of no sleep with a subject title of “Ritual”. "Hot Games" team came in first place as "Forever 2 D" team came in second and "Oyun Mutfağı” team came in third place at the event with 11 jury members, and an organization team of 20 people.

Joachim Hensch, General Director, Hugo Boss Production Centre, who visited Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics, shared valuable information on design principles, quality, historical development, branding, and production technologies of men’s attire with students.
