“NAVI” FOR INDOOR NAVIGATION
Failing to find direction in multi floor locations such as plazas, hospitals, etc. made students take action. Students of Izmir University of Economics made it easier for folks to find the rooms they are looking for, and prevented waste of time with the Navi Indoor Navigation project they developed.
LOOKING FOR THAT STORY
Ersin Özince, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Is Bank, Turkey, stated that Turkey needed a story to excite its young and dynamic population, and that the instability should come to an end right away. Izmir University of Economics hosted “Current and Future Business Needs in South-East Europe and Executive Education Responses” forum organized by International Association for Management Development in Dynamic Societies (CEEMAN).
LOSE WEIGHT SAFELY!
Turkey is getting less health conscious and obesity rates are rising each year. Reasons such as lack of exercise, malnutrition, smoking and alcohol consumption cause increase in obesity and methods to lose weight may result in death. The experts are strongly warning against ‘so called’ weight loss pills and methods.
APPRECIATION
Congratulation letters sent by Prof. Dr. Yekta Saraç, Chairman of the Council of Higher Education (YOK), to the students placed into Izmir University of Economics faculties as top students in 2015 – 2016 Academic Year, were presented to them by IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen and the senate members. Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen congratulated the top students and he said, “Students were placed into the University after a compelling examination process. Prof. Dr. Yekta Saraç, Chairman of the Council of Higher Education, sent them congratulation letters. We shared this meaningful gesture with our students. We wish them continued success.”
‘HYGIENE PROTECTS FROM FLU’
As the weather begins to turn cold these days, catching seasonal diseases such as cold and flu increase rapidly. The experts stress the importance of hygiene in keeping these diseases away, and state that fighting germs and treating infectious diseases cost lots of money.
DOĞAN TURHAN SCHOLARSHIP
Successful students at IUE Department of Logistics Management receive Doğan Turhan Scholarships. Last year a protocol was signed between Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, IUE Rector, and Engin Turhan, son of the late Doğan Turhan, in order to grant a merit scholarship for 10 students and research support for academicians. This year 12 students will be able to benefit from Doğan Turhan Scholarships.
FRIENDSHIP AMBASSADOR TO CHINA
Izmir University of Economics student Çağatay Kırmızıay has been chosen as Turkey-China friendship ambassador. Kırmızıay will attend education and culture programs in Beijing, Shanghai, and Ningxia as part of the Turkey and China Friendship Ambassadors event organized by Embassy of China in Ankara. He will relay Turkish culture and learn about Chinese education and culture up close.
BE A HEALTH CONSCIOUS CONSUMER
An international panel of experts convened by the World Health Organization concluded that eating processed meat like hot dogs, ham and bacon raises the risk of colon cancer. The experts stated that children especially enjoyed consuming processed meat like hot dogs, ham and salami, and they suggested families to purchase products after checking out the ingredients.
HERNIATED DISK LOWERS QUALITY OF LIFE
Work conditions, inactivity, lack of exercise may cause herniated disc in lumbar spine by creating muscle and joint problems. World Health Organization statistics revealed that 33% of healthy individuals between the ages of 21-30 developed herniated disc problem, and women had this problem almost twice as much as men did.
