Reminding that the total reserve amount has increased to 405 billion cubic meters with the new natural gas discovery in the Black Sea, Prof. Mehmet Efe Biresselioğlu, Head of Division of Sustainable Energy, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), said, "If, in line with the data provided by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas is produced annually in the Sakarya Gas Field, according to the 2019 annual consumption amount, 22 percent of Turkey's natural gas demand will be able to be provided from this reservoir for about 40 years."
'Entrepreneurship' meeting with academics in Turkey
The Technology Transfer Office and the Creative Economy Center, which started their studies under the leadership of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Business and cooperated with Bristol Business School in England, prepared a special project, consisting of 3 stages, specifically for the British Council Newton Fund call. In the first leg of the project, which aims to strengthen the research, training and institutional mechanisms in this field in order to support entrepreneurship activities in our region, a "Creativity in Research" workshop was held between September 28 and October 2.

Students of Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) started the 2020-2021 Academic Year with the first lecture delivered by Faculty Member Prof. Metin Çakmakçı. 269 people attended the first lecture held on the university's Blackboard Learning System with the presentation of Res. Asst. Ecem Özgül from IUE Department of Nursing.
Meles Stream projects gets an award
The team, in which Lecturer İpek Kaştaş Uzun from Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), takes part as the landscape architect, was awarded for their project that designed Meles Stream, one of the most important natural heritages of Izmir, as a "green corridor".
Chosen among 150 artists and represented Turkey
The works of Prof. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of Department of Textile and Fashion Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), and Lecturer Angela Burns, were chosen among the works of 150 artists and represented Turkey in the virtual exhibition opened by the International Visual Literacy Association (IVLA).
IUE globally recognized in information security
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) has successfully completed the audit of "ISO 27001 Information Security Management System Standards Certificate", which is defined as the most valuable international certificate of competency in the field of information technologies. IUE, proving that it protects all data, including the information of the students securely, was entitled to renew the international certificate approved by the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK).
She did not like studying, ranked 93rd in Turkey
Buse Deniz, graduate of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Physiotherapy Program, ranked 93rd in Turkey in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) where about 389 thousand people entered this year in order to qualify to study at a four-year program. Stating that she did not like to study in high school and in the early years of the university, but she changed with the guidance of her academics, she started to focus on her classes and chose a completely different career goal for herself, Deniz said, “I knew I would be successful in the exam but achieving the degree was a great pleasure for me. I was excited, stared at the screen for a long time, experienced one of the most joyful moments of my life.”
'Early detection' of electrical machinery failure
Entrepreneurial engineers from Izmir University of Economics (IUE) develop software and hardware to identify machines operating at full capacity in production lines before they fail. Graduate Students Özer Can Devecioğlu and Sertaç Kılıçkaya from IUE Electrical and Electronics Engineering Master’s Program with Thesis, who received support within the scope of TUBITAK Individual Young Entrepreneur Program, will save businesses from thousands of liras of damage with the early failure detection device they will develop.
