The effects of coronavirus on nursing profession are discussed
Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), prepared a series of seminars on the experiences and problems of nurses involved in the pandemic period, in collaboration with the Turkish Surgical and Operating Room Nurses Association. The first of the five-part webinar series under the title of “Legal Responsibilities of Surgical Nurses Arising from Medical Practice: Pandemic Special” was held with the participation of nursing students, academics, and nurses working at hospitals.
Training young academics on preparing a TUBITAK project
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Business and IUE Project Development and Technology Transfer Office will co-conduct the “TUBITAK Research Project Preparation Training in Social Sciences” for scientists. In the online event, scientists will be given training on managing the application process, project management and budgeting.
The Place and Importance of 15th July Democracy and National Unity Day
Within the context of the fourth anniversary of the treacherous July 15 coup attempt, Izmir University of Economics held a panel named “The Place and Importance of 15th July Democracy and National Unity Day in Turkish Democracy Life”. Within the scope of the event, which was moderated by the Head of Compulsory Courses, Lecturer Dr. Elçin Yılmaz, Dokuz Eylül University faculty member Prof. Dr. Dilşen İnce Erdoğan attended as a speaker.
Leading in "entrepreneurship" with 35 projects
Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) made a mark in “Bu Gençlikte İş Var” entrepreneurship program organized by the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TUSIAD) in order to help young people gain an innovative perspective and steer students toward entrepreneurship. In the program where 183 universities participated this year, IUE managed to become the university where the most projects were produced with 35 new ideas developed. In the award ceremony held online due to coronavirus, Rector Prof. Murat Aşkar was congratulated on behalf of the university for the first place in the number of projects and support for young people.
Summer is here but social isolation and measures continue
Assoc. Prof. Barış Emre Dayanç, Lecturer at Faculty of Medicine, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), has been the guest of “Pandemic Academy”, held online by IUE Faculty of Communication as part of Campus Izmir Talks. The program, in which Assoc. '14 times 'increase in sale of mortgaged houses
With the decrease in coronavirus cases, the start of the normalization process and the decrease in mortgage interest rates have mobilized the real estate market at a record level. In Turkey, 93 thousand 704 houses with mortgage loans were sold in total between 1-27 June. Last year during the same period, sales of houses with mortgage loan were 6 thousand 658 in Turkey compared to 14 times increase this year. Burçin Önder, Director of Vocational School, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), said, “Decrease in interest rates in housing loans became life support for the market. This dynamism will continue in the coming months.”
IUE’s Digital Graduation Exhibition and Fashion Show
While seniors of Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), successfully complete their education journeys with distance education due to Covid-19 measures, they will exhibit their graduation exhibition and fashion show with the theme of "New - D" in digital environment. The event, which refers to the new normal period, will be presented to the audience through a joint broadcast from the social media accounts of the Faculty and its departments. The fashion show and exhibition, which will be held with the digital catalog interface, will start on Monday, 13 July at 20.00.
'America' scholarship to Izmir academician
Asst. Prof. Deniz Sayar, Lecturer at Department of Industrial Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), who carries out studies on many topics such as the design of smart robots or virtual assistants that will facilitate our daily lives with the help of artificial intelligence, received a research scholarship from the United States. Asst. Prof. Sayar, who has been deemed worthy of the Carnegie Mellon University Fulbright Research Fellowship, awarded to only 12 people in Turkey this year, will complete her studies by leaving for America in February and staying there for 10 months.
We will make '38 million' with electricity
Action was taken to increase energy efficiency, create a suitable ground for renewable energy investment and save 5m euros (38 million lira) in Izmir, where approximately 6 percent of the total consumption of electricity in Turkey takes place. Prof. Mehmet Efe Biresselioğlu, Head of Division of Sustainable Energy, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), was entitled to receive support from the European Union (EU) for a project called "ENCHANT" developed in cooperation with academics from 5 countries in Europe.
2 'recycling' projects by IUE students
Students of Department of Public Relations and Advertising, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) developed two communication campaigns for Karşıyaka Municipality in order to separate domestic solid wastes and direct them to recycling. Young people from Izmir University of Economics, who proposed a tournament called “Bil, Ayrıştır, Kazan (Know, Sort, Win” to raise awareness among high school students, conveyed that the toys made from domestic waste can be presented to Izmir residents in a special exhibition in the project called " Atıkları Kahramanın Yap (Make the Wastes Your Hero)" prepared for primary school students.
