Nurses from Izmir University of Economy were sent off on their professional journey by taking the International Pledge for Nurses at the online graduation ceremony. Due to the concerns regarding the Covid-19 pandemic period, Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing 2019-2020 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony was held in a virtual environment with the participation of the students' families.

Dr. Elçin Yılmaz, Head of Common Compulsory Courses Department, Izmir University of Economics participated as a speaker in the online conference organized by the Germany Hildesehim Kemalist Thought Association as part of the August 30^th Victory Day celebrations. In the chat with 8 thousand 179 listeners from many countries, Dr. Yılmaz evaluated the period leading to the victory of August 30, 1922, the struggle with its before and aftermath under Mustafa Kemal Pasha's chief command.

Asena Tuğcu Altay, who developed her passion for design, which started by sewing clothes for barbie dolls when she was only 8 years old, developed her own brand in the field of home textiles and started to export her special designs about Izmir to all over the world. 

Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Vocational School established a "Development Workshop", including a modern library, mediation tables, wall and board games, in the Karabağlar Ataturk Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, where approximately 1,800 young people study at. 

Assoc. Prof. Güzden Varinlioğlu, Faculty Member, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Department of Architecture, was awarded a scholarship by the United States of America (USA) for her project, which aims to reveal historical city connections around the world such as the Silk Road through caravanserais.

The terms "quarantine" and "pandemic" through the eyes of university students who had to be confined to their homes around the world due to the coronavirus epidemic became subject of photography competition. The “In Social Isolation” titled photography competition organized by Art Coordinatorship of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) started with the slogan of “Pandemic through Your Lens". Applications will be accepted at www.ieu.edu.tr/photocompetition/tr/ internet address until 1 September 2020.

Coronavirus increased the risk further in Turkey where nearly 6 million home accidents occur a year. While home accidents caused by children aged 0-6 and individuals over 65 increased, complaints of "burns" also increased during the period spent at home to be protected from the epidemic. 

The last session of the webinar series, co-organized  by Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and Turkish Surgical and Operating Room Nurses Association, took place with the participation of experienced nurses from different hospitals. Executive Nurse İlknur Yayla from Directorate of Nursing Services, Cardiovascular Operating Room Supervisor Nurse Gökçen Köker, Operating Room Nurse Özer Toksoy, and Operating Room Supervisor Nurse Fatime Çetin participated as speakers in the session moderated by Prof. Filiz Öğce, Dean of IUE Faculty of Health Sciences, and  the President of Turkish Surgical and Operating Room Nurses Association. Assoc. Prof. Arzu Vuruşkan, Lecturer at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Department of Textile and Fashion Design, and Ph.D. student Başak Süller Zor started to work on developing "smart gloves" that will enable visually impaired people to easily choose the clothes of the color, style and size they want.

Prof. Neslihan Günüşen, Faculty Member of Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Nursing, Division of Psychiatric Nursing, has been the guest of the third session of the webinar series, co-organized  by Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and Turkish Surgical and Operating Room Nurses Association.
