Pay attention to burns at home
Coronavirus increased the risk further in Turkey where nearly 6 million home accidents occur a year. While home accidents caused by children aged 0-6 and individuals over 65 increased, complaints of "burns" also increased during the period spent at home to be protected from the epidemic.

'Smart glove' for the visually impaired
Assoc. Prof. Arzu Vuruşkan, Lecturer at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Department of Textile and Fashion Design, and Ph.D. student Başak Süller Zor started to work on developing "smart gloves" that will enable visually impaired people to easily choose the clothes of the color, style and size they want.

Becoming global citizens with multilingualism
Department of English Translation and Interpreting, Faculty of Arts and Science, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), teaches its students 3 foreign languages and enables them to become global. With an innovative vision, in line with the curriculum to be implemented this year in order to raise well-equipped young people, students will be able to choose either or French or Italian for 4 years in addition to English. Students will learn Spanish, German, Russian, Japanese or Chinese starting form the third grade. This way, translators from Izmir University of Economics will be able to translate a second foreign language in addition to English, and graduate by learning a third foreign language at a level that they can use effectively.
The indicator points to Izmir in construction
Its successful fight against the coronavirus, being the center of tourism projects, and becoming one of Turkey's most comfortable city in transportation, turned the construction indicator to Izmir. Award for habitat design on Mars
Architects from Izmir University of Economics (IUE) returned with an award from the "Mars 2050 Habitat Idea Competition" organized in cooperation with Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and Bursa Technical University. Passed 46 criteria, received international accreditation
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Engineering successfully passed the internationally validated 46 criteria assessment conducted by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MUDEK). At the end of the meticulous examination in many areas including the subjects covered in the curriculum and the physical facilities provided by the university; Computer Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Software Engineering departments qualified to be accredited for two years.
Exemplary cooperation from IUE and PwC to support education
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Business cooperated with PwC, one of the world's leading auditing and consultancy firms, in order to improve students' internship opportunities and allow them to take courses from international names. The agreement made with PwC firm will provide priority internship and job opportunities to the students of IUE Department of Accounting and Auditing.
