Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and Izmir Chamber of Commerce 70th Architecture Group- Future Female Designers co-organized a “Female Architects Panel”. Architects Pınar Odaman, Yosun Ezgi Demirci, Elif Sağlamer, Nur Kocasoy Bağcı, and Jülide Tutan Hergül attended the panel as speakers which was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Aslı Ceylan Öner, Head of IUE Department of Architecture. The panelists shared their experiences with, and gave advice to the future architects, and told them to gain experience and specialize in a specific area.
IUE professor receives an international award
The project on early detection of cardiac arrhythmia of Prof. Türker İnce, Head of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), which he developed with two academics from Finland and Qatar, has been granted an award by an international journal.
‘Legal arrangements on mobbing are required’
Faculty of Law, Izmir University of Economics held a conference titled, “Legal Aspect of Mobbing”. Assoc. Prof. Alp Limoncuoğlu and Asst. Prof. Mine Kasapoğlu Turhan, Asst. Deans of IUE Faculty of Law, and Asst. Prof. Cem Özcan attended the conference as speakers. Students showed great interest to the conference where mobbing was addressed with case examples.
Solutions-oriented designs by the Italian Architect Cardini
Department of Visual Communication Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) held “A Visual Frame / Her Mess, His Mess” titled workshop. Workshop’s guest for the 2019 fall semester was the Italian Architect and Designer Stefano Cardini. Cardini taught students and graduates of IUE Department of Visual Communication Design, how to come up with a solution-oriented design by using a two dimensional square or rectangular pieces of fabric throughout the two-day workshop.
Drug resistance in cancer treatment gets an award
The project, which researches the resistance mechanisms developed by cells against the drugs used in the treatment of lung cancer, was awarded by the oncologists. The study of Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Fırtına Karagonlar, Head of Department of Genetics and Bioengineering, Faculty of Engineering, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), made it among the top six projects out of 103 projects at the “Onkolojide İz Bırakanlar (Those Who Make a Mark on Oncology)” Summit held by the Turkish Association for Cancer Research and Control.
