IUE Vocational School Welcomes fall semester
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Vocational School (VS) welcomed the new academic year with “masters”. Cemal Elmasoğlu, Acting Chairman of Izmir Chamber of Commerce (IZTO) and Member of IUE Board of Trustees, who delivered a speech at the “Çıraklar Ustalara Soruyor (Apprentices Asking Masters)”, a traditional event held by IUE Vocational School that brings masters and apprentices together, stated that well-equipped Turkish youth was being raised, and he said, “We believe in the future of our country. We want our youth to be courageous. Izmir Chamber of Commerce (IZTO), with its 80 thousand members, is ready to support you.”
The “Mentoring” Project at Izmir University of Economics
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) initiated its mentorship project for its new coming students. 108 mentors, selected among third and fourth year students, will share their knowledge and experiences with the new comers of Campus Izmir in order to accelerate their adjustment period and help them develop socially.
International Translation Day Celebration
Department of Translation and Interpretation, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) celebrated September 30th International Translation Day with a seminar on “Sign Language Interpreting.” Prof. Dr. İsmihan Bayramoğlu, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, addressed the importance of translation in various languages and fields at the event that took place at IUE Conference Hall.

Asst. Prof. Sıtkı Egeli, Lecturer at Department of Political Science and International Relations, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), attended as commentator and technical expert in an international meeting held in Africa with the objective of curbing the spread of ballistic missiles. Dr. Egeli was the only participant from Turkey in the event which was attended by military and civilian authorities from nine African countries.
‘Observing city networks’
Assoc. Prof. Aslı Ceylan Öner, Head of Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), will be moderating the “Observing city networks: Global linkages and benchmarking” titled panel in Marmara Urban Forum held by Marmara Municipalities Union which she had been working with since 2017 under Globalization and City Networks theme.
Successful Performance by IUE Sailing Club
Team of academics and students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) achieved a successful performance in their category at the Arkas Gulf Sailboat Race organized with the participation of approximately 400 athletes and 47 boats as part of the Izmir Gulf Festival.
Izmir University of Economics Started Its 19th Academic Year
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) started the 19th Academic Year to train the future leaders and entrepreneurs.
The first ceremony of IUE 2019 – 2020 Academic Year began with laying a wreath at the Ataturk Monument at IUE Ceremony Field. Following the observance of a moment of silence and singing of the National Anthem, Mahmut Özgener, President of IUE Board of Trustees, TOBB Chair Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, CHP Izmir MPs Kamil Okyay Sındır, Kani Beko, and Sevda Erden Kılıç, İyi Party Izmir MP Aytun Çıray, AKP Izmir Former MP Necip Kalkan, Selami Özpoyraz, President of IZTO Council, and IUE Rector, Prof. Murat Aşkar laid a wreath at Ataturk Monument with students.

IUE Graduate Inan became popular in Europe
İnan Evin, who graduated from Department of Software Engineering, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) this year and ranked among the top 50 students at the competition held by UNITY, a cross-platform game engine and famous software company, got the attention of international universities. His success got him graduate education offers from IT University of Copenhagen, Denmark, University of Tampere, Finland and Aalto University, Finland.
