Hasan Utku, student at Footwear Design and Manufacturing Program, Vocational School of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) came in first place at the International Footwear Design Competition with this design inspired by samurais.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Sailing Club ranked in first place in IRC-2 class, Support-3 and Support-4 classes separately and came in second place in IRC-1class at the 10^th Jimmy Key – Universail Sailing Yacht Racing event held by Urla Yacht Club (URIYAT).

Assoc. Prof. Osman Demirbaş, Lecturer at Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), represented Turkey at Milan Design Week. Assoc. Prof. Demirbaş attended the “Designing Spaces Changing Lives” themed panel at the event IFI@Salone co-organized by the International Federation of Interior Architects – IFI and Scacchetti Associati Architecture Studio.

It has been stressed that architecture students needed to be intertwined with art, philosophy, literature, and history and these components were indispensable in education. Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Fine Arts and Design Department of Architecture hosted the "Kalebodur and Architects Talk-Campus" titled event with the support of Kalebodur. Nevzat Sayın and Han Tümertekin, leading names in culture of modern architecture in Turkey, attended as guest speakers. The event led by Prof. Dr. Celal Abdi Güzer, took place at IUE Conference Hall.

Children drew their dreams, and learned about life with differences. Children, who came together at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) for two separate events, celebrated the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day enthusiastically. While children established their own cities at the event organized by Association of Izmir Freelance Architects, 18 children with special education needs and their peers got involved in activities that develop their basic motor skills, an event co-organized by IUE Vocational School of Health Services and Special Olympics Turkey.

Audio description is opening up a new world of possibilities for visually impaired individuals. At the seminar titled “Audio Description as a Type of Translation and SEBEDER (Audio Description Association)” hosted by IUE Department of Translation and Interpretation, it was pointed out that audio description opened up new world of possibilities for the visually impaired by describing the visuals, feelings, silently emerging situations in films and TV series.

Sector leaders met with students at the “Bi’ Dünya İş” titled conference series organized by the Vocational School of Izmir University of Economics (IUE).

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) brings those who make a difference in business life together with the professionals. Managers in business life, who make a difference with breakthroughs in business life, will share their experiences at the “3^rd Human Resources Summit” intended for human resources managers and employees. The Summit with “Ethics in Human Resources” titled theme, co-organized by IUE Career Guidance Center and IUE Alumni Relations Office, will be held on 19 April 2019 at IUE Conference Hall at 10.00.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) celebrated the 18^th anniversary of its establishment with a ceremony held on Balçova Campus. Mahmut Özgener, President of IUE Board of Trustees, pointed that young people were their biggest reassurance in a rapidly changing world. President Özgener said, “Our school stays away from a classical education model and raises students who are interested in new world, new technologies, new media. We need new masterminds, approaches, thrills in today’s world where digital technologies change the fate of economics and trade especially. Young people are our biggest reassurance in a rapidly changing world. The more education, confidence, and opportunities we provide them, the quicker we can adapt to the new world.”

The “Post-Election Turkish Economy” has been discussed in collaboration with Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and İktisat ve Toplum Dergisi (Journal of Economics and Society). Prof. Dr. Asaf Savaş Akat, Faculty Member of Bilgi University, Prof. Dr. Serdar Sayan, Faculty Member of TOBB Economics and Technology University, Ömer Faruk Çolak, Editor of Journal of Economics and Society, and Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, Faculty Member of Izmir University of Economics, attended the event as speakers, which took place on IUE Balçova Campus.
