Combined her passion into a profession
Assoc. Prof. Güzden Varinlioğlu, Lecturer, Department of Architecture, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), became a world-renowned name for her underwater diving practices, which she refers to as “My biggest passion”; she has been involved for 23 years. Assoc. Prof. Varinlioğlu started her underwater research as a hobby during her student years at Middle East Technical University and turned that hobby into scientific research shortly. Assoc. Prof. Varinlioğlu performed dives in 10 other countries, in addition to Turkey, so far.
A scientific glance at refugee health
Refugee health will be addressed at an international level. The agreement signed between Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Medicine and Italian Universita Campus Bio-Medico, will address the refugee health in both Turkey and Italy where intensive immigration movement takes place.
4 delicious meals for 4 days
Trainer Chef Tolgahan Kamiloğlu, from Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), prepared special Feast of Sacrifice holiday meals. Chef Kamiloğlu chose traditional dishes such as “Kuzu kapama (lamb stewed with lettuce and fennel)”, “Elbasan tava (lamb casserole with yoghurt)”, “Kuzu/dana güveç (lamb/veal en cocotte)”, and “Çoban Kavurma (roasted meat)” that can be prepared easily at home and paired with vegetables for easy digestion.
Izmir University of Economics receives A+ rating
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) qualified for “A Plus” rating as a result of a satisfaction survey conducted among 35 thousand 715 students studying at 188 universities nationwide. In the survey, conducted by University Research Laboratory (UNIAR), which aims to rank universities based on the satisfaction level indicated by students, IUE became the university that meets the expectations of the students at the highest level.
9 potentially life-saving tips in traffic
As millions are getting ready to hit the roads due to Feast of Sacrifice holiday to see their loved ones and for a holiday retreat, Lecturer Melahat Kızıl, Paramedic Program, Vocational School of Health Services, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), warned drivers about driving safely and gave some life-saving tips. Kızıl reported that based on the data by Turkish Statistics Institute, 6 thousand 675 people lost their lives as 307 thousand 71 people were injured in traffic accidents last year. Kızıl provided valuable information regarding first aid for possible road accidents.
Generation Z chose Campus Izmir
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) became the most preferred foundation university in the Aegean Region by increasing its number of students 16% compared to a year ago. Izmir University of Economics (IUE), which welcomed total of new 1.736 students in undergraduate and associate programs last year, will be welcoming 2 thousand 6 more students according to Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) 2019 results.
Izmir University of Economics brings students together at a summit
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) brought 190 students together by hosting ECOMUN Conference, an event where students conduct debate and decision making, and come up with solution recommendations about current issues worldwide. In addition to students from Turkey, students from other countries such as Canada, Greece, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Liberia attended the 5-day conference. Students worked on the following agenda items identified by 6 different committees: “Basmachi Movement”, ”American Civil War”, “NATO”, “Cabinet of Maduro in Venezuela”, “Organization of Islamic Cooperation”, and “United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime”, and prepared solution recommendation protocols.
IUE graduate programs informative meeting attracted a great deal of attention
Izmir University of Economics (IUE), which merged four graduate schools under the “School of Graduate Studies”, in order to offer a higher quality education to its students, held an informative meeting to introduce the 35 programs being offered in 12 different disciplines. Many number of academics and students attended the meeting held at Izmir Chamber of Commerce, where the changes in graduate programs were shared in details.
Izmir University of Economics students lead the way in business
Students of Foreign Trade Program, Vocational School of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), are going global with Izmir Chamber of Commerce member companies, which have not exported yet. 11 students will make analysis in order to make new connections and help companies export, which have not exported yet or have limited export market.
Next generation of graduate education by Izmir University of Economics
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) brought four graduate schools under one roof in order to allow its students to take courses they want from other programs, and improve themselves in different areas when they are pursuing masters or doctoral degrees. While, it is being practiced for the first time among the universities in the Aegean region, Graduate School of Health Sciences, Graduate School of Business, Graduate School of Social Sciences, and Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences have been merged under the “School of Graduate Studies”. This new structuring will allow students to have a more personalized education opportunity.
