Izmir University of Economics (IUE) participated in the mass tree-planting campaign launched by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. The campaign came with the slogan “The Breath for the Future.”

The students, academics and graduates of the university who got together in Çatalca, Menderes, a place severely damaged by the forest fires last summer, took part in the plantation of saplings. 

İzmir Dyslexia Awareness seminar was held by the mobile application Dysapp Founders Esra Ablak and Deniz Öztürk, Graduates of the İzmir University of Economics Psychology Department.  One of the most common learning disorders is Dyslexia.  The mobile application was developed to minimize the error rates of children with dyslexia in areas such as literacy and arithmetic. In the application there are games with exercises.  In the seminar held within the scope of activities of the Izmir University of Economics Technology Transfer office, IUE Physiotherapy Program Doctor Lecturer Şermin Tükel made a presentation titled Dyslexia with Academic Approach. Then the participants were shown the documentary “Looking Glass” directed by Alkın Türköz.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) held a ‘Tax Consciousness Conference’ in order to increase tax awareness among students and inform them about the latest developments in that area. 

Memorial Ceremony to pay tribute to the Great Leader Ataturk on his 81st Anniversary of death took place on November 10, 2019 at 08.45 at the University Ceremony Field with the  intense participation of academicians, students and the administrative staff. The bust of Atatürk was decorated with carnations in the ceremony.  IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar, Consultant to Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Murat Borovalı, faculty deans, academicians, administrative staff and students participated in The Memorial Ceremony which took part at the University Ceremony Ground. 

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) hosted the “Italian on Stage” themed talent show as part of the 19^th Italian Language Week observed worldwide. 

Breast cancer, the most common type of cancer worldwide and in Turkey, contrary to popular belief, is a nightmare not only for women but men as well. Based on the data provided by the Ministry of Health, 500 males were diagnosed with breast cancer in Turkey in 2019.  

Kaan Parlas, a senior at Department of Logistics Management, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), carried his academic success over to his passion, sailing, and won 32 cups so far.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) hosted a workshop which thoroughly addressed the “Crispr Cas” technology, a newly developed technology in molecular biology to prevent the genetic diseases.
