‘’Collective Act’’, took the first step to realize a dream for children
In the spring semester of 2018-2019, for the students of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, İzmir University of Economics, The social responsibility project course named IAED 366 ‘‘Collective Act’’ by Asst. Prof. Didem Kan-Kılıç was opened the first time. The course aims to prepare a social responsibility project that can help the needs of the society by concentrating the knowledge, experience and capabilities of the designers in the social and collective direction of design. At the same time, it aims to create a sustainable solidarity platform at the university level.
Furniture Collection ’I AM A PROTOTYPE’ ’at Modeko Fair
In the fall semester of 2018-2019, Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, 3rd Year Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department and Industrial Design Department students produced furniture collection ‘’I am a Prototype’’within the scope of Furniture Design course.

The second year students of Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) reconsidered the Yeşilova Mound Visitor Center, which is founded and conducted by Archeologist Dr. Zafer Derin and designed by Architect Evren Başbuğ as a research / resting space for archeology students.
Iron deficiency problem will be solved by IUE
Asst. Prof. Seçkin Eroğlu, Lecturer, Department of Genetics and Bioengineering, Faculty of Engineering, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), will increase the iron content of foods via natural ways with his project that qualified to receive TUBITAK grant. Eroğlu plans to solve the iron deficiency problem in humans caused by malnutrition.
Womens's rights not a one-day issue
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) draws attention to the problems faced by women via a weeklong activities and events as part of the International Women’s Day celebrated on March 8 worldwide. Itır Bağdadi, Director of EKOKAM (Social Gender and Women Studies Research and Application Centre) and Lecturer at IUE Department of Political Science and International Relations, stressed that discussion of women’s rights and violence against women should not be confined to a single day.
Female touch to IUE Youth and Sports Club Team
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Youth and Sports Club Team made a flamboyant entry into the second Amateur Football League. As Oğuz Taşdelen, the Team Captain and third year student at IUE Department of Software Engineering, pointed out that they wanted to be a successful team beseeming Izmir’s sports culture, and wanted to display good sportsmanship, Hilal Başkol, female coach of the team, rolled up her sleeves to bring championship to the team in male-dominated world of football.
Mission Antarctica
The living colonies which has habituated on Mars and under water in the previous years, has settled in Antarctica in scope of ARCH 202 Architectural Design II, in the “Mission Antarctica: A Biomimetic Structural Organism” workshop. In this two-week workshop, the mission of the 2nd year Architecture students was to design a biomimetic structural organism that would function as a habitat for the first colonizers on Antarctica.
Qualified workforce meets with leading companies
The 15th “Career Days” event, organized by Izmir University of Economics (IUE), brings all university students and leading companies together. While students will be able to meet the representatives of 58 national and international companies, the companies will have access to qualified workforce firsthand.
