IUE WILL MEET THE DEMAND IN WORKFORCE
Izmir University of Economics plans to remedy for qualified workforce demand of business world via its Alumni Information System. IUE graduates, who enter their current education and employment information in the system, and companies registered in the system will meet at the same platform, and companies will be able to find specialized employees they need easily.
PEER VICTIMIZATION
Young people from different parts of the world learned about “peer victimization” from the experts at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). A group of 45 people consisting of students aged 14 – 17 from Denmark, Portugal, Italy, Slovakia, Greece, and Turkey and their teachers came together at Izmir University of Economics as part of the Erasmus+ Project organized by Manisa Polinas Vocational and Technical Anadolu High school.
300 KILOS OF GARBAGE COLLECTED BY IUE STUDENTS IN ONE HOUR
Students of Department of Logistics Management, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), did a litter clean up on Inciraltı City Forest grounds as part of the “İzmir’de İyilik Var” (a social responsibility) Project. Students collected 300 kilograms of trash and litter from Inciraltı City Forest in one hour.
FROM NATURE TO ARCHITECTURE: COMPETITION AND COLLABORATION
Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Architecture hosted two presentations based on different disciplines about Competition and Collaboration.
In the event where the opening speeches were given by Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ceylan Öner and part-time instructor S. Selçuk Alten, the audiance listened to the presentations of Prof. Dr. Bülent Alten and Prof. Dr. Suha Özkan.
IMPORTANCE OF EARLY INTERVENTION IN HIV/AIDS
Faculty of Medicine, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) held various events in order to raise awareness as part of HIV/AIDS Awareness Week. Prof. Dr. Hakan Abacıoğlu, Dean of IUE Faculty of Medicine, stated that transmission could be prevented via methods implemented within the initial 24 – 72 hours following the suspicious contact.
DOĞAN TURHAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Doğan Turhan Scholarship, awarded to successful students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Logistics Management and to the academicians as a research support since 2014, entered its 5th year. Mahmut Özgener, President of IUE Board of Trustees, presented a plaque of appreciation to the Turhan Family for their contribution.
OUR STUDENTS ARE IN THE TOP 10 AT THE IDEATROPHY COMPETITION
The team named "Happy Beginnings and Endings", formed by Zehranur Gıcır (IUE Food Engineering graduate and MBA student), Tuğçe Ersan (IUE Food Engineering and Industrial Engineering Double Major student) and Damla Güney (IUE Food Engineering student) will be competing in the final stage of Unilever IdeaTrophy, a competition in which undergraduate and postgraduate students from all across Turkey participate with their creative ideas on marketing.
SOLOTURK VISITED IUE VOCATIONAL SCHOOL
Vocational School of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) welcomed Murat Keleş, Founding Pilot of SOLOTURK (F16 Demo Team).
IUE Vocational School Civil Aviation Cabin Services and Civil Aviation Transportation Management Programs hosted Mr. Murat Keleş as part of the “Çıraklar Ustalara Soruyor (Apprentices Asking Masters)” event. Murat Keleş, who is considered a national pride and made the national and international headlines with his demonstrations, is the founder of SOLOTURK F16 Demo Team and the first demonstration pilot.
TRANSLATION ASSOCIATIONS CAME TOGETHER AT VOCATIONAL SCHOOL
Izmir University of Economics Vocational School Applied English and Translation Program hosted experts in the field of translation in Turkey.
Osman Kürşat Serttürk, President of Association of Aegean Translators and Translation Agencies (EGEÇEDER) and Owner of Zenith Translation Agency, Taş Ali Koçer, President of Ankara Translation Association (ANKAÇED) and Owner of Ivogsan and Ostim Translation Offices, Gürkan Gülpınar, President of Association of International Language and Translation (UDİÇED) and owner of Portakal Translation Agency, Gülsün Yener, Vice President of EGEÇED and Owner of Ulusal Translation Agency, Hasan Kavcar met with students and shared their experiences as part of the “Çıraklar Ustalara Soruyor (Apprentices Asking Masters)” event.

The students of the Faculty of Communication at Izmir University of Economics encourage refugee children to open the doors of their imagination. The social responsibility project “See as A Child” aiming to combat negative speech against refugee children will deliver books to refugee children gathered from all parts of Turkey.
