Entrepreneurs get ready for the sector at IUE
Izmir University of Economics Technology Transfer Office has initiated the only product-based venture accelerator program of Turkey. The “DesignX Entrepreneur Accelerator Program”, which will develop entrepreneurial ideas in terms of technology and design, as well as in the areas of incorporation and finance, will facilitate coming up with solutions to consumer needs.
"Purple Day" addressed at IUE
Dr. Burak Paköz, Lecturer, Faculty of Health Sciences, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), called attention to “Purple Day”, the International Day for Epilepsy and falls on 26 March each year. Dr. Paköz, who emphasized that people with epilepsy may feel alienated, said, “Patients with epilepsy can lead a regular life with a right treatment.”
Students of Departments of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Industrial Design, and Yacht Design attended a technical trip to Bodrum İçmeler Region Shipyards, Bodrum Maritime Museum and Bodrum Marina
On 16-17 March 2019, students of Departments of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Industrial Design, and Yacht Design, and Elif Büyükkeçeci, Research Asst. from Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design attended a technical trip to Bodrum İçmeler Region Shipyards, Bodrum Maritime Museum, and Bodrum Marina under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Ö. Osman Demirbaş, Asst. Prof. M. Emre Ergül, Asst. Prof. A. Can Özcan, and Asst. Prof. Markus Wilsing.
Eating 3 or more eggs a week linked to heart diseases and early death
A new study conducted in America highlights the risks of consuming food such as eggs and giblets, and the fact that they trigger cardiovascular diseases and strokes. Prof. Dr. Cumali Aktolun, Lecturer at Faculty of Medicine, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), indicated that consuming more than three eggs a week was an open invitation to many diseases.
IUE physics lab gets an upgrade
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Physics Laboratory has been upgraded to allow conducting more comprehensive experiments, which are vital in the education of physical sciences. IUE Rector, Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar said, “Basic sciences underlie applied sciences such as engineering. Being able to experience the theoretical knowledge increases students’ performances in their fields.”
Designing buildings for scientists in Antarctica
Students of Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) designed buildings for scientists conducting research in the South Pole. Students accumulated background information related to Antarctica’s geography, weather, year-round temperature extremes, logistics and sustainability.
IUE students manufactured for high school students
Students of Furniture and Decoration and Interior Design Programs of Vocational School (VS) of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) manufactured furniture for the students of Karabağlar Atatürk Vocational and Technical Anadolu High School. VS students also started a book donation campaign to fill the bookcases they built.
