Currently, there are 1 million 627 thousand 718 Syrian refugee children in Turkey, and 370 thousand of those are not receiving any education whatsoever. The project titled, “Çocuk Gibi Bak (See like a Kid)”, initiated by Faculty of Communication, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) in 2017 for the first time, aims to stop the negative discourse about refugee children, and to reintegrate these children into society.

Ata Kaan Koc, student from the Visual Communication Design Department of Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, has his animation works picked by international film festivals for screening once more. Koc will thus find the opportunity to reach his visual message to a Mexican audience with his animation titled "Hope".

Yaren Eren, junior at Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), designed cabin crew uniforms. Eren, who came in first place at the cabin crew uniform design competition, sponsored by Atlasglobal and Hugo Boss, qualified for one year unlimited free flights and she will meet with the company’s design team at headquarters of Hugo Boss in Germany.

“Dream Logic” and “Memorabilia” exhibitions, curated by Asst. Prof. Özgül Kılınçarslan of the IEU Faculty of Fine Arts and Design's Visual Communication Design Department, has opened for their visitors.

Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Vocational School “Furniture and Decoration“ and “Interior Design” programs visited ENGELSIZMIR as part of their ‘Special Solutions for Disabled’ course.   Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Vocational School “Furniture and Decoration“ and “Interior Design” programs visited the 3^rd International ENGELSIZMIR (ACCESSIBLE IZMIR) 2018 Congress under the theme of "New Production Models and Employment for People with Disabilities" held by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, with the organization of IZFAS on November 1-3, 2018 at Fuar Izmir fair grounds.

Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Vocational School “Furniture and Decoration” and “Interior Design” programs visited the “Aegean Construction Materials and Technologies Fair” (AEGEAN CONSTRUCTION 2018). The AEGEAN CONSTRUCTION SUMMIT fairs were held at Fuar Izmir fair grounds with the mission of making a difference in the Aegean Region and across the nation. Major companies, which aim to present people modern life styles with leading-edge projects in the construction industry, participated in the fair. 

The founder of the Republic of Turkey, great leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was commemorated in the 80^th anniversary of his passing into eternal life with a ceremony at Izmir University of Economics. Mahmut Özgener, Chairman of Izmir Chamber of Commerce (IZTO), and President of IUE Board of Trustees, also attended the emotional ceremony.

A training course was held regarding the use of the first Industry 4.0 Laboratory in Turkey, which was established within TESLA Laboratory of Faculty of Engineering, Izmir University of Economics. The participants received their certificates at the ceremony with the attendance of faculty members.

Gökhan Mura from the Department of Visual Communication Design at IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design exhibited his work titled “Object Academy” at the 4th Istanbul Design Biennial.

Turk and Japan design students designed a student house in Yeşilova Mound within the scope of a workshop hosted by IUE.
