Young Turkish future chefs are learning about the French touch in the kitchen on-site. Izmir University of Economics Culinary Arts and Management students are doing their internships in Michelin-starred restaurants in collaboration with the Association of Les Toques Blanches Lyonnaises, established by French chefs. 12 young future chefs from Izmir University of Economics are mastering the particulars of their profession next to award-winning chefs in Michelin-starred restaurants in Lyon, France.

Women will love the new system that learns their taste in design and body shape.  In the application called “Shopshape” designed by the academicians of Izmir University of Economics, women will find their design suiting their body shapes on the internet. In this way, they will be able to get advice on clothing design according to their body shapes and have a shopping environment peculiar to themselves.

The new method of frauds has become to use the Word “coup”. Frauds, formerly having used the names of “police” or “MIT” (National Intelligence Agency), have changed their tactics. These people deceive citizens by communicating with them on the phone or social media saying that their names are being pronounced in the coup investigation. By this way, these frauds demand several things and especially money from citizens.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) is building a success story. IUE was rated the 11th among the universities which were established after 2000 in 2016-2017 METU-URAP (University Ranking by Academic Performance) rankings. It was also ranked the 15th among all the foundation universities and the 18th among the ones without School of Medicine. It also succeeded in being rated in the top 17 of all 174 universities in a ‘Turkey Student Satisfaction Survey’.

The science world is bringing the process people go through during “learning” to light. The reactions occurring in neurons, the basic information processing structures in the central nervous system, during learning phenomenon are being revealed via image processing system. So that, healthy cells and cells in which learning does not occur will be compared, new approaches will be developed for those who have learning difficulties.

What we know as bookcases is changing. Canan Gündoğan, student at IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Industrial Design, grabs attention with her bookcase design called ‘Forrego’. In addition to its practical usage, Forrego doesn’t get dusty.  

Turkish textile is stretching its borders from Izmir to China. Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, will be representing Turkey in Beijing with her artwork on felt. Adanır has been the only artists to have been accepted to “From Lausanne to Beijing, 9^th International Fiber Art Biennale 2016”’ that will take place in Shenzen China in September. Lecturer Jovita Kurnaz, from IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, will represent Lithuania with her artwork also. This way, IUE will shine out at the biennale with its 2 academicians.

60 police officers, 3 soldiers, and 145 civilians were killed in action during Turkey’s coup attempt on July 15. As the whole nation united against the coup attempt, Izmir University of Economics gave a hand to the families of fallen police officers and civilians. IUE will offer full scholarship to the first degree relatives of fallen police officers and civilians.   

Experienced experts are supporting prospective students to make undergraduate education choices at Izmir University of Economics. The expert guidance counselors, in addition to 60 students and all academic units, are guiding the prospective university students at IUE Conference Hall at 14 guidance and information tables. Students will be informed about their dream occupations as part of the “Izmir University of Economics Prospective Student Counseling Days” event which will go on August 2. 

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) is getting ready to train the new generation of engineers who will shape the future of Turkey. IUE Faculty of Engineering and Computer Sciences, Departments of Biomedical Engineering, Genetics and Bioengineering, Mechatronics Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering will be admitting students for the first time in the coming academic year.
