‘GRADUATE DEGREE IS A FORK IN THE ROAD’
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) started enrollments for Master’s and Ph.D. programs for spring semester for youth and professionals who want to hold a graduate diploma and choose a different path for their careers. Applicants will get a chance to improve themselves on a wide variety of subjects from electronics engineering to finance, from logistics management to health institutions management offered with thesis or non-thesis options as well as distance learning.
CONCILIATION AND ARBITRATION TRAINING BY IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
Judges, prosecutors, and attorneys will receive training on conciliation and arbitration at Izmir University of Economics. IUE Continues Education Center (IUECEC) will provide 25 hour Conciliation on Punishment Disputes Training and 48 hour Arbitration Training for approximately 250 judges, prosecutors, and attorneys registered to Izmir Bar Association. The participants will learn how to prevent disputes between the offender and the victim.
FUTURE VERSION OF GUZELBAHCE BY YOUNG ARCHITECTS
Students of Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) are designing the future of Güzelbahçe. The students also renewed the old Türk Ticaret Bankası (Turkish Trade Bank) located on Mimar Kemalettin Street and transformed it into a modern library in 2020.
IUE SUPPORT TO PHYSICIANS
Physicians will receive graduate education at Izmir University of Economics. A protocol was signed between IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen and Suat Kaptaner, Chairman of Executive Board of Izmir Medical Chamber, for the members of the Chamber which qualifies them a 25% discount in tuition fees of graduate programs at Izmir University of Economics. The members, employees, their spouses, children, and siblings will also benefit from the discount at IUE Graduate Schools of Business, Natural and Applied Sciences, and Social Sciences as part of the protocol.
ÇİPER FURNITURE AT IUE
Furniture by Architect Danyal Tevfik Çiper has been donated to IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design as part of the “DATUUM Documentation and Archiving- Modern Furniture in Turkey" project carried out by Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. The furniture is being displayed on the 5th floor of Faculty of Fine Arts and Design building.
HEALTHY EATING BRINGS SUCCESS
As students are having stressful days due to mid-term exams these days, the experts suggest that they need to watch out their eating habits in order to focus on long and intense days better. Asst. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Fırtına Karagonlar, Lecturer at IUE Department of Food Engineering, mentioned that students opted for chocolates and energy drinks for quick energy; however these had negative impacts on health and exam performances in the long run.
“TALISMANIC SHIRTS” AGAINST VIOLENCE ARE AT BUCA
Talismanic shirts are on display against violence. The talismanic shirts, co-created by Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics, and Lecturer Jovita Sakalauskaite Kurnaz are being exhibited at Buca Municipality Culture and Art Center. 20 talismanic shirts are created out of white shirts donated by 65 women from Turkey and Lithuania. The exhibition will stay open until January 29.
SURPRISING INFLATION RATE IN IZMIR
Inflation rates for Izmir skyrocketed. Turkish Statistical Institute (TSI) announced the annual inflation rates for both December and 2015, and Izmir and Aegean Region cities came up with the highest inflation rates. The experts stated that Izmir, a city in close proximity to agricultural centers and has a cost advantage compared to Istanbul, having high inflation rate was very startling.
