SMART PILL DISPENSER
Patients, who have hard time following their prescriptions, will soon find a relief. The “Smart Pill Dispenser” project, developed by students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), will put an end to the worries of patients who wonder if they took their pill, if they took it on time, or if they took it more than one time. The system, intended for patients who need to take multiple pills regularly, classify the pills based on times and their types. When it is time to take the pill, it drops down to the box, and warns the patient via sound and vibration.
ARBITRATION TRAINING FOR JUDGES AND PROSECUTORS
Judges and prosecutors, who completed their training on arbitration, received their certificates. Feyzi Öztürk, Acting Chief Prosecutor of Izmir Courthouse and Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, Rector of IUE, awarded the certificates to 112 judges and prosecutors who got trained by Izmir University of Economics Continuous Education Center (IUECEC). Ömer Ömeroğlu, Acting Chief Prosecutor, Celal Kocabaş, High Court Chief Prosecutor of Izmir Regional Courts of Justice, judges and prosecutors attended the ceremony.
IUE STUDENTS MAKE SICK CHILDREN HAPPY
They bake pastries and muffins and collect donations to make sick children happy. Students of Department of Culinary Arts and Management, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) strive to make children, who are hospitalized at Children’s Oncology Ward at Dokuz Eylül University Hospital, happy for the past 3 years. The students Ezgi Usluer, Fulya Sivritaş, Selin Akay, and Merve Öztürk volunteer to make the sick children forget all the pain and hardship they experience during their treatments.

Intergenerational communication in business life was discussed at Izmir University of Economics. Changes experienced in intergenerational work systems were discussed in detail at the “1st Human Resources Summit” co-organized with the Human Management Association of Turkey (PERYON) Aegean Branch.
IUE CHEFS LEARN ABOUT FINESSE OF BAKING CAKES
Young chefs of Izmir University of Economics will be learning the finesse of baking and decorating cakes from the master chefs of İnstitut Paul Bocuse. The collaboration agreement signed between Department of Culinary Arts and Management and İnstitut Paul Bocuse will allow teaching the finesse of baking cakes to the future chefs of IUE. Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, visited the students in the kitchen and baked with them.
FIRST AID-WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW
The experts stated that our good intentions might be causing harm to the “injured”. The statistics revealed that the folks took the issue of performing first aid lightly, and they believed that it was something they could manage “on their own”. Even though 91.5% of folks who participated in the “Assessment of First Aid Knowledge of Individuals” study claimed that they would call 112 in an emergency, when an emergency situation came up, the rate of folks calling 112 came all the way down to 4%’s.
TRUST ‘YOURSELF’ BEFORE YGS
The experts recommend 2 million 178 thousand 563 students, who are going to take Transition to Higher Education Examination (YGS) this weekend, to leave aside negative thoughts and focus on their future. The experts, who gave “golden” advice to prospective university students before the exam on March 13, said that it was very normal for students to get excited but they wanted the students to repeat the phrase, “I can do this, I want to do this, I will do all that I can at the exam”.

It has been reported that as the violence against women was increasing day by day, anything to change this was all talk and no action. The experts stated that special effort should be made for women’s employment, education, her place in social life, and that growth wouldn’t be discussed at all if women employment wasn’t in question.
IUE STUDENTS PRACTICING AT ITK PRESCHOOLS
Prof. Dr. İlgi Şemin, Director of IUE Vocational School of Health Services, who gave information about the protocol, said that they wanted their students to have hands-on training. She said, “This protocol will allow our students to have hands-on training at ITK Private Preschools. They will be able to put their theoretical knowledge into practice.
