IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS IS ACCREDITED BY MUDEK
Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Faculty of Engineering and Computer Sciences, Department of Software Engineering has been accredited by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MUDEK) until 2020. MUDEK, which is recognized by the Higher Education Council (YOK) of Turkey as the National Quality Assurance Agency in accrediting engineering programs, officially registered, both in Turkey and abroad, that the graduates of IUE Department of Software Engineering receives high quality of education.
WOMEN WILL LOOK STYLISH VIA CLOTHING PLATFORM
Women will be able to have access to clothing designs that fit their bodies on the internet. They will be able to identify clothes that match their bodies based on design, trend, color, season, and special occasions thanks to a TUBITAK Project developed by academicians of Izmir University of Economics.
GETTING REDAY FOR INTERNATIONAL LAW
Izmir University of Economics Faculty of Law is getting ready to offer 30% of courses in English in order to equip the future lawyers with knowledge of national and international law. IUE Faculty of Law will be teaching many courses such as “European Capital Market Law”, “Commercial Arbitration Law” and “European Competition Law” in English in 2015 – 2016 academic year.
WATCH OUT FOR TRANSLATION PLAGIARISM!
The risk of “plagiarism” in the translation of literature classics draws attention. In a “Plagiarism in Translation Project” study carried out by IUE Department of Translation and Interpretation as a TUBITAK Project, all full text Turkish translations of the books Robinson Crusoe, Madam Bovary, and War and Peace have been examined. Only 2 out of 13 different translations of the novel Robinson Crusoe bore originality, and only 5 out of 38 different translations of the novel Madam Bovary bore originality. And many plagiarisms were detected in the novel War and Peace.
FUTURE OF DENIZLI IS AT ‘IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS’
Necdet Özer, Chairman of Executive Board of Denizli Chamber of Commerce (DTO) and IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen signed a protocol for the youth of Denizli. First degree blood relatives of members of Denizli Chamber of Commerce qualified for 15% discount in annual tuition fees of Izmir University of Economics as part of the protocol. Along with Özer ile Prof. Dr. Esen, Ahmet Özkan Haybat, Member of Executive Board of DTO, Erol Kaya, Member of DTO Council, Ali Rıza Tekin, Secretary General of DTO, and Mehmet Özgü Manisalı, graduate of IUE and an entrepreneur from Denizli, attended the protocol ceremony that took place at Denizli Chamber of Commerce.

Students of Izmir University of Economics completed their studies in 7 semesters. Büşra Çetmen, student of Department of International Trade and Finance, and Merve Aytan, student of Department of Business Administration, completed their undergraduate education in 3.5 years, and decided to enter the business life.
IZMIR BILIMPARK WILL BECOME A TECHNOLOGY BASE
Izmir Bilimpark (Izmir Science and Technology Park, Technology Development Zone), which was co-established by Izmir Chamber of Commerce, Izmir University of Economics, and ITOB Organized Industrial Zone with the intent of becoming a center for developing high value added products in design in Izmir, started to host the first companies. The construction of the Administrative Building and the Incubation Centre within Izmir Bilimpark has been completed, and brought into service.
WARM CLOTHING FOR THE DISABLED
European Union Project, co-developed by Izmir University of Economics-Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, and industry, will find solution by creating special designs for heating problem of disabled people using wheelchairs, or those who cannot move. For the first time in Turkey, the “Knitted Fabric and Clothing Designs for Smart Textile” titled project will manufacture clothes that will heat the joints of disabled people and create a magnetic field.
SUPPORTING THE SISTER SCHOOL
Izmir University of Economics supported sister school Salih Dede High School with an end of year seminar for teachers. Salih Dede High School teachers received training on subjects such as "critical thinking and course design based on critical thinking", "ideal teacher", "testing and measurement techniques", "drama as a teaching method", "classroom management", "learning motivation", and "technology as a teaching method".
