As the new academic year for primary and secondary education is postponed to September 28, the experts emphasize that children who start school at an early age without being fully developed, may have self-confidence issues. Pedagogue Hakan Yıldız, Lecturer at Child Development Program, Vocational School of Health Services, Izmir University of Economics, stated that the child needed to be ready to perform what’s expected of him/her successfully at school. “School maturity is a biological growing process in a child's development. Children, who are younger than 72 months, may not have school maturity,” said Yıldız.  
 

Turkish and Japanese industrial design students will be designing marine transportation vehicles for Izmir. 11 students and academicians from Shizouka University of Art and Culture, Department of Design, and a team of 20 from IUE Department of Industrial Design will be attending the co-organized workshop called “Merutemu”, named after light breezes unique to Aegean Sea and Izmir, which will take place on 5-12 September in Izmir and Bodrum.

Yurttaş, in his ISO 22000 and ISO 9001 certified pastry store, gives priority to customer satisfaction and hygiene.   
 

Experts have reported that Turkish economy indicates that it won’t be able to create rapid growth rates due to increases in exchange rates, and that a strong government needs to be established following a possible early election and appropriate and timely reaction is required for US Federal Reserve’s decisions on interest rates.  They pointed that dollar went above 2.94, and Euro above 3.25, and that Turkish Lira depreciation against dollar reached up to 25% since the beginning of New Year, and that the economic stability would be provided once the political risk is gone immediately.
 

Izmir University of Economics Master’s Programs will train experts that meet the requirements of digital era and needs of the business world. Management and Managerial Development Program, which will admit students for the first time this year, will focus on real life business experiences and Harvard case studies. Students will be taught all aspects of business administration, communication, and relations aspect. Again, Design Management Master’s Program and Occupational Health and Safety Master’s Program will be training educated experts this year. Children and youth learn “math” by touching. Those, who are not good with numbers and formulas, learn by experiencing many concepts such as binary number system, golden ratio, Pythagorean theorem, chaos theory at almost 140 different stations at “Tales Mathematics Museum”’ in Aydın founded by Alp Ayaydın, graduate of IUE Department of Public Relations and Advertising.   
 

Mehmet Emre Bozaba became the winner of “To NASA with Izmir Economics” titled instagram contest organized by Izmir University of Economics (IUE). Bozaba, thanks to his creative picture he took by using Augmented Reality Application (IUE AR)-three dimensional reality generated by computer-will be visiting NASA Space Station in America.   
 

Cengiz Ultav, Chairman of Technology Development Foundation of Turkey, stated that many people around the world worked hard to create innovation, that technology had to combine with the real world, and many companies focused on design because of that. 
 

Female chefs of Izmir Economics bring local tastes together with international tastes in Alaçatı. Seçil Moler and Ece Fenerci, both graduates of IUE Department of Culinary Arts and Management, present their customers an exquisite Aegean Cuisine enriched with their education. Moler and Fenerci prepare Greek-Turkish exchange dishes such as “Sea bass with Okra”, “Calamari on Tahini”, “Liver”, “Lavender Rice Pudding”, and “Tandoori Octopus” and serve at Langaza Restaurant.
 

The experts emphasize that ice cream, which is one of the most consumed products in the hot days of summer, is a nutritious sweet however, when comes unpackaged, it might become a threat to human health. They state that ice-cream should be prepared based on health and hygiene rules, and warn that ice creams containing ice crystals might cause throat infection.
