The experts, who stated that the students took their first steps to adulthood with the announcement of university placement results, pointed out that those who were not placed in the programs they desired should not give up on their dreams. Clinical Psychologist Nilgün Köstem, Coordinator of IUE Psychological Development and Counselling Centre, stated that students who were not able to get placed in the university or program they wanted should not feel disappointed and she said, “If success doesn’t come the way we planned, it doesn’t mean a total failure. We need to try couple of more times to reach our goals. Sometimes, ‘failure’ or ‘mistake’ may be more educational and valuable for us.”

Based on the undergraduate placement results, Izmir University of Economics is getting ready to welcome one thousand 755 new students. As Izmir Economics, the first Foundation University of the Aegean Region, getting ready to train the new students as entrepreneurs, purchased the land for the medicine school it plans to get it done by next year.
BECOMING TOP STUDENT OF THE DEPARTMENT 20 YEARS LATER
Merve Çelebi, who graduated from her second university some 20 years later, graduated as the top student of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. Çelebi quit working her job as Director of Foreign Economic Relations at Izmir Chamber of Commerce when she had her daughter Maya in 2005, and opened the door to her dream profession when she took the university exams again in 2010. Çelebi also set an example to her family members by graduating from a second university years later. Çelebi’s economist sister studies graphic design, and her optometrist husband’s sister studies photography.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) is getting ready to host youth who wants to promote their designs in the international arena. Pre-registrations for IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, which admits students through an aptitude test, started already. The deadline for pre-registrations is August 1.
WORKING MOMS WILL GET RELIEF WITH SENTIVA
Working moms will no longer worry about how their babies are fed. Başak Yunatcı, Graduate of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Industrial Design, designed “Sentiva – Breast Milk Warmer” for moms who pump breast milk because they cannot breast feed their babies during work hours and keep it in the freezer. Yunatcı is waiting for investors to start mass production.
IUE SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS’ EUROPEAN INVASION
IUE software developers reached a turnover of 1Million TL by bringing the investors and youth with ideas together with the web project they developed. Graduates of IUE Development of Software Engineering provide software and design services to many companies in Germany, Italy, and Spain along with Izmir with their company named Atölye 15. And, their growth target is Europe rather than Istanbul.
THE TURKISH YOUTH IS SATISFIED WITH THEIR LOOKS
It has been reported that Turkey, among other European countries, is a country where youth is most satisfied with how they look. The European Union Project titled “EDGE: Education and Gender” studied the youth’s perception of their bodies in 6 European countries. According to the study, Turkish youth is 45% satisfied with their looks, followed by Austrian youth with 40.4 %, and Polish youth by 34.5 %. Hungarians have 33.3 % and Germans have 26 %. The country who is least happy with their looks is Norway with 15.7 %.
QUALITY OF IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING
Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Engineering and Computer Sciences, Department of Computer Engineering have been accredited for 5 years. The accreditation certificate issued by Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MUDEK), which is recognized as a national quality reassurance institution by the Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK), certified the quality of IUE Department of Computer Engineering.
DOCUMENTARY ON TWO SHORES BY STUDENTS
The students of the two shores learn about each other’s cultures by shooting documentaries. Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Cinema and Digital Media, and Aegean University (Lesbos – Greece) Department of Cultural Technology and Communication came together at a documentary summer school where living cultural components of Izmir and Lesbos become subject to short documentaries. 14 students, who studied documentary techniques at IUE Faculty of Communication and produced 4 short documentaries in Izmir are chasing after cultural textures today in the streets of Lesbos Island.
