CLEAN WATER FOR STRAY ANIMALS WITH “LOTUS”
The stray animals will have clean water during the hottest days of summer with “Lotus”. İrem Kaval, Senior at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Industrial Design, pays back both to the nature and animals with a clay water bowl that sge got inspired by lotus flower.
A FASHION SHOW TO REMEMBER AT IUE !
Senior students of IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design presented their designs at year-end exhibition and fashion show. The students, who presented their “keşif (exploration)” themed fashion show in the first semester, continued their show this time with ready wear outfits at IUE Amphitheatre. Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees and IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen visited the designs of the students at the exhibition area before the fashion show. Innovative designs by students of Industrial Design, Visual Communication Design, Architecture, and Interior Architecture and Environmental Design got full marks.
MAGAZINE FOR THE ELDERLY!
Students of Izmir University of Economics, Department of Media and Communication, Reporting Option, published an “Actual Magazine”, a first for the elderly population. The magazine, which is distributed at places such as retirement homes, retiree associations, hospitals and care centres, where elderly population is mostly present, focuses on variety of subjects from health, law, sports, travel, ecologic life to art, etc.
MAINTAINING HEALTHY EATING HABITS DURING HOLIDAY SEASON!
As the students got their report cards and started a long summer holiday, the experts pointed out the importance of not to change the eating habits during the holiday season. 16 million students will be on holiday for as long as 3 months and the experts believe that their healthy eating habits may change during this period.
ORBITS WILL ENTERTAIN AND TRAIN
Children will improve their intelligence with the help of a toy called “Orbits”. Ezgi Yelekoğlu and Altuğ Toprak, graduates of Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Industrial Design, received national and international awards for the toy they created together which targets to improve the intelligence of children as they enjoy playing.
‘TAKE CARE OF YOUR MORAL IMMUNE SYSTEM BEFORE LYS EXAM’
As the time gets shorter for the Undergraduate Placement Exam (LYS) that will seal the fate of millions of students, the experts suggested that the students take care of their moral immune systems on this last turn. Clinical Psychologist Nilgün Köstem, Coordinator of IUE Psychological Development and Counselling Centre, pointed out that the students might be experiencing stress due to the upcoming exam and that they needed to come up with a study plan which won’t consume their energy and motivation.
MOODS OF WOMEN PROJECTED ON THE DOLLS!
The cloth dolls reflected images of women. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şölen Kipöz, Lecturer at Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design, took part at the third Triennial of Contemporary Art Port Izmir titled “IT’S ENOUGH”, with her exhibition named, “Cepteki Miras”. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kipöz, who included members of Ödemiş Women’s Coop in her project, stated that the women projected their own stories on the dolls.
WORLD INTERIORS DAY CELEBRATED
The experts studied the historical and contemporary buildings of Izmir as part of “World Interiors Day” organized by Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. Lecturers, students of the department, members of Chamber of Interior Architects Izmir Branch and Chamber of Architects Izmir Branch members, and approximately 50 interested participants attended the event that took place at IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. Access Interiors, a continuation of "Talking Interiors" named seminar series, took place at World Interiors Day. Also, a cocktail, supported by Akarsu Ali Company with the participation of Chamber of Interior Architects took place.
TURKEY WILL MAKE WAY WITH RENEWABLE ENERGY
It has been reported that Turkey’s foreign dependency in energy consumption was 74% and in the discourse of sustainable and liveable environment, Turkey was at the bottom of the ladder. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Efe Biresselioğlu, Head of IUE Department of Sustainable Energy, stated that the country was facing a $56 billion bill for energy import and as of this year hydropower had 35% and wind had 4% share within the renewable energy board power capacity.
A SCIENTIFIC ANALYSIS ON DAMAGE ACTIONS BY IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
Lecturers of Izmir University of Economics will research into procedures in damage actions. Asst. Prof. Dr. Ebru Ay Chelli, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Huriye Kubilay, IUE Dean of Faculty of Law, will analyse whether the aggrieved was protected sufficiently in terms of adjudicatory procedures in legal system as part of the TUBITAK Project they developed.
