As the time gets shorter for the Undergraduate Placement Exam (LYS) that will seal the fate of millions of students, the experts suggested that the students take care of their moral immune systems on this last turn. Clinical Psychologist Nilgün Köstem, Coordinator of IUE Psychological Development and Counselling Centre, pointed out that the students might be experiencing stress due to the upcoming exam and that they needed to come up with a study plan which won’t consume their energy and motivation.

The cloth dolls reflected images of women. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şölen Kipöz, Lecturer at Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design, took part at the third Triennial of Contemporary Art Port Izmir titled “IT’S ENOUGH”, with her exhibition named, “Cepteki Miras”.  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kipöz, who included members of Ödemiş Women’s Coop in her project, stated that the women projected their own stories on the dolls.  

The experts studied the historical and contemporary buildings of Izmir as part of “World Interiors Day” organized by Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. Lecturers, students of the department, members of Chamber of Interior Architects Izmir Branch and Chamber of Architects Izmir Branch members, and approximately 50 interested participants attended the event that took place at IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. Access Interiors, a continuation of "Talking Interiors" named seminar series, took place at World Interiors Day. Also, a cocktail, supported by Akarsu Ali Company with the participation of Chamber of Interior Architects took place.

It has been reported that Turkey’s foreign dependency in energy consumption was 74% and in the discourse of sustainable and liveable environment, Turkey was at the bottom of the ladder. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Efe Biresselioğlu, Head of IUE Department of Sustainable Energy, stated that the country was facing a $56 billion bill for energy import and as of this year hydropower had 35% and wind had 4% share within the renewable energy board power capacity.

Lecturers of Izmir University of Economics will research into procedures in damage actions.  Asst. Prof. Dr. Ebru Ay Chelli, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Huriye Kubilay, IUE Dean of Faculty of Law, will analyse whether the aggrieved was protected sufficiently in terms of adjudicatory procedures in legal system as part of the TUBITAK Project they developed.

Secondary education students designed their own super heroes. The results for the “2^nd Superheroes Saving the World Design Contest”, organized by Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, have been announced. S. Dilara Vollack from Vali Vecdi Gönül Anadolu High School came in first place at the contest organized by IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, IUE Design Research and Application Centre (EKOTAM) with the support of Izmir Provincial Directorate of National Education where 66 contestants attended. Gamze Akbulak from Ali Osman Konakçı Girls’ Technical and Vocational High School, came in second place and Kadri Demircan Kaçel from Işılay Saygın Fine Arts High School came in third place. Students focused on environment friendly heroes who can prevent drought and radioactivity. 

Izmir University of Economics, which offers Dual Diploma Undergraduate Program in various departments, provides higher education opportunities with different experiences for students. The Dual Diploma Program, co-coordinated by IUE Departments of Software, and Computer Engineering and State University of New York (SUNY) Fredonia Campus, allows academicians to share knowledge with students in both countries. 

A closing conference for a European Union Project titled, “Education and Gender (EDGE)”, where Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nesrin Oruç Ertürk, Lecturer at IUE School of Foreign Languages, also participated as a researcher, took place at Izmir University of Economics. 89 participants from 17 countries, including India, discussed gender based education at the conference.

‘Milli Folklor Uluslararası Kültür Araştırmaları Dergisi (National Folklore International Culture Research Journal) one of the two journals scanned by international indexes in the field of social sciences in Turkey, published its 101^st Spring issue in honour of  Lecturer Prof. Dr. Fikret Türkmen, Turkish Language Coordinator at IUE Faculty of Arts and Science. The journal includes an article on biography of Prof. Dr. Fikret Türkmen and his work, and interviews in addition to 21 scientific articles dedicated to him and 5 translated articles. 

Izmir University of Economics (IUE), with 14 innovative projects, award-winning designs, and achievements of its graduates, took part in Turkey Innovation Week that was organized by Turkish Exporters Assembly. Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees and Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, IUE Rector visited the students who became the centre of attraction with their projects that were based on practical solutions to various daily problems, and got briefed about their projects.
