As the millions of students are waiting for the new academic year, parents will be going through the issue of allowance. While children have endless needs, families are on a budget indicating the experts and say that students need to be educated about the importance of saving.

Mathematical figures and outcomes of technology are reflected on fashion. Neslihan Biri and Hande Çil, Graduates of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design, used 3 D in their designs.

As the new academic year is about to begin, the experts point out that healthy and balanced diet would have positive effect on the school success of students in addition to their physical and mental developments. They say that nutrition plays significant role in lessening learning difficulties in a challenging and tiring education period.

University students will be gaining work experience in European Union countries.  Total of 79 students from Ege, Dokuz Eylül, Celal Bayar, Katip Çelebi universities, under the coordination of Izmir University of Economics, will be performing internship at organizations and institutions in European Union countries organized by Izmir Chamber of Commerce. Each student will receive one thousand 500 Euros for 3 month Erasmus internship. Total amount of grants will be 118 thousand 500 Euros.

Parks will be redesigned with “Toys for the New Generation Playgrounds” contest. The contest, co-held with Izmir University of Economics and CEMER, focuses on playground designs for the new generation who does not go out to play. The emphasis will be on two playground designs, one for children and one for adults, at the contest where 75 participants nationwide will join.

Izmir University of Economics will be offering both the classical education and the advantages of technology via a digital education platform. Students will be able to take course notes, share their assignments in a digital environment in addition to the traditional course structure when the new registration period begins on September 1.  Students and lecturers will have access to academic information on digital campus without time and location limitation.

Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, announced that the Cabinet Decree regarding the establishment of IUE Faculty of Medicine was published on the Official Gazette dated August 26, 2014. Demirtaş said, "We asked for help from Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his visit to Izmir. Soon after, it got approved by the Cabinet. We would like to express our gratitude to the Prime Minister. Our Faculty of Medicine will start enrolling students next year. Our target is to train doctors who will be serving humanity and to make our city become the capital of health tourism.” 

It has been indicated that logistics sector in Turkey was the second sector with the most potential after tourism sector, and that the market would reach between $120-150 billion in 2015. It has been reported that the logistics sector, which is also the main theme of 83^rd Izmir International Fair,   has made a significant progress in Turkey in the last 10 years.

Turkish and Japanese students designed electric bicycles for Izmir. Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and Shizuoka University of Art and Culture (SUAC) Department of Industrial Design students designed electric bicycles for different uses by tourists, stallholders, garbage collectors, and university students. Students of IUE, whose travel to Japan funded by Izmir Chamber of Commerce Education and Health Foundation, were offered to perform their internships at Suzuki in the coming semesters.
