‘FASHION LOVES ART’
Senior students of Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics, will be completing their education journey with “Fashion Loves Art” titled fashion show. IUE students will be display the ready-to-wear clothing they designed based on the theme fashion loves art at the graduation fashion Show on June 5 at 21.00 at IUE Ceremony Field.
LOOKING FORWARD TO HAVING MORE CHINESE STUDENTS, AND TEACHING CHINESE TO MORE STUDENTS AT IUE
A cooperation agreement has been signed between Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and Shanghai International Studies University – SISU. President of Board of Trustees stated that they wanted to welcome more Chinese students.
IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS’ ‘TRANSLATION’ SUCCESS!
Entrepreneurial students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), where the medium of instruction is English, proved that they have a say in translation and interpretation department. IUE translators came in first place and second place at the Young Translators Competition for two consecutive years held by the Ministry of EU Affairs. Osman Tufan, senior from IUE Department of Translation and Interpretation came in first place, and Berfu Solak came in second place.
‘WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY SHOULD BE A LAST RESORT’
Those, who want to look “fit” in summer, opt for weight loss surgery when they fail to lose weight via dieting. It has been reported that for many, a fast surgical procedure seemed like a great option, however, weight loss surgeries are designed for the severely obese- generally those people with a body mass index (BMI) of 40 and higher. The experts strongly emphasize, “Weight loss surgery should be a last resort”.
LITTLE INVENTORS ON THE JOB
Kindergartners reach to information via experiments. Little inventors did experiments under the guidance of students of Child Development Program of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Vocational School of Health Services and learned about scientific thinking, observation, understanding cause and effect relationship, problem solving, and doing analysis. Students of IZELMAN Selçuk Yaşar Balçova Kindergarten had lots of fun while they did dry ice, oobleck, color channels, and foam volcano experiments.
USING DRONE TECHNOLOGY FOR HEAT LOSS
Drones, which are changing our lives more and more every day, will measure heat loss. Burak Çiçeksoy, Hakan Kayan, and Oğuzhan Ulucan, students at Department of Electrical and Electronics, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), combined drone and thermal camera and started to measure heat loss in buildings with the software they developed for their “Heat Loss Control with Drone” project. Students, who are funded by TUBITAK Program offering support for research projects of undergraduate students, aim to come up with an innovative solution for controlling loss of energy.
The young entrepreneurs will be measuring the heat loss occurring especially in the rooftops and facade of the buildings, and share the information such as the extent of the heat loss and its financial cost with the users. This way, users will be able to start saving and get informed about heat loss issue whose importance is increasing day by day.
THE ENERGY WORKSHOP AT IUE
Energy policies have been discussed at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). It has been reported at the “6th Energy Management and Policies Workshop”’, organized by IUE Department of Sustainable Energy, that Turkey has spent energy equivalent to 130 million tons of petroleum in 2016, and fossil fuels made up 86% of this. It has been pointed out in the workshop that Turkey needed to have a sustainable and predictable energy market structure.
HISTORICAL BUILDINGS OF BAYINDIR WILL BLOSSOM
Bayındır, a county known for its beautiful flowers, will get a touch of architectural restoration. Students of Architectural Restoration Program of IUE Vocational School will be working on building survey, redesign, and renovation of the Olive Oil Factory Inn in the region in collaboration with Bayındır Municipality. Students will also perform their internships at the restoration work-sites of Bayındır Municipality. This way, Bayındır will get a makeover of its historical buildings and its streets.
