Beauty industry goes digital. Fırat Turan, graduate of IUE Department of Computer Engineering, and Murat Yaşar, graduate of IUE Department of Mathematics, brought over 65 beauty enterprises in Izmir such as beauty salons and hairdressers, etc. together under a mobile application they developed and named “Vigo”. Those, who download the app on their device, keep a tap on the latest beauty trends, and get an online appointment from a beauty enterprise they want. Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, visited Turan and Yaşar at their booth at Izmir University of Economics and supported them.

The stages in Germany are being designed by IUE fashion designers. Jörn Fröhlich, lecturer, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design, and Cansu İncesu, graduate from the same department, designed the costumes and stage of the Chawwerusch Theater in Germany.

US Embassy Ankara and Turkish American Association set up "E3 Platform" booth at Izmir University of Economics to answer questions about “English, Education, Entrepreneurship” topics. John Bass, U.S. Ambassador to Turkey, Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Can Muğan, IUE Rector, academicians and students attended the opening of the event.

Students studying at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design, shape the future of fashion through the power of design. The designs of young fashion designers, as a result of the quality education they receive from national and foreign national academicians, received awards at the 11^th IF Wedding Fashion Izmir - Wedding Dresses, Suits, and Evening Gowns Fair. 5 out of 15 finalists were from Izmir University of Economics. Ece Metiner and Fulya Civaroğlu, both graduates of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design, came in second and third place respectively.  

High school students learned about future professions on-site. Students, who are in the midst of an exam marathon, got a chance to ask academicians about the professions they are interested in, what kind of education was required, and possible career opportunities at the “4^th I am Choosing My Profession” fair organized by Izmir University of Economics (IUE) at the Conference Hall. One thousand 700 hundred students experienced being ‘university students’ for a day, received information about courses, and attended seminars on how to overcome exam anxiety, motivation, success, and professions.    

The study on Family Structure in Turkey, co-conducted by Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) and the Ministry of Family and Social Policies, revealed that families preferred “scolding” their children as a means of punishment. Fathers with children aged 7 – 13 scold their children at 13.2% frequently. 46.2% of the fathers, however, prefer to scold their children occasionally. Mothers, on the other hand, scold their children at 21.8% frequently and 48.6% sometimes.

IUE fashion designers made their mark again at Europe’s largest bridal fair. Ece Metiner and Fulya Civaroğlu, both graduates of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design, respectively came in second and third place among 15 finalists at the 11^th IF Wedding Fashion Izmir - Wedding Dresses, Suits, and Evening Gowns Fair.

As about 18 million students and 900 thousand teachers started the second semester, IUE students did not forget about young students studying at Kınık district of Izmir. Izmir University of Economics Factory of Business Student Club donated stationery, coloring books and reading books, and sports materials to 300 students studying at Yayakent Elementary School. Students also supplied winter shoes for 60 children as part of the “Benden Sana Sevgilerle (From Me to You with Love)” titled project they carry out.

Waste papers, waste fabrics, pieces of waste wood are all being recycled. Lecturers and students of Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), made notebooks, necklaces, pencil holders, lambs, dolls, bags out of waste materials they obtained from ‘zone’ cleaning. The products will be exhibited in March, afterwards they will be on sale, and the income will be used to establish a library and an activity room in a village school.

 Environment of trust develops intelligence, personality, and social behaviors of children. The experts state that the role of parents and parenting in the family environment shape healthy development and socialization of children, and point that fathers’ attention increases self-esteem in children.
