REFLECTION OF EMOTIONS WILL BE EXHIBITED IN LITHUANIA
Jovita Kurnaz, Lecturer, Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics, (IUE) will display the combination of felt with art in Lithuania. Zeynep Karaoğlu and Bengisu Ekin Özkan, both graduates of Department of Fashion and Textile Design, will accompany Kurnaz, who will be the only artist to be attending from Turkey.
SUMERBANK FABRICS AT THEIR BIRTH PLACE
Sümerbank fabrics, garments, home textile products, which were re-manufactured by IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design and which make up the legacy of industrialization revolution in Turkey, are being exhibited in Aydın; city where Sümerbank factories were built originally.
‘PLAY IN CHILDREN’S DEVELOPMENT’
As the school takes its toll on children, they yearn for play. The experts suggest that children should be allowed time to play in addition to their daily school routine. Hakan Yıldız, Lecturer, IUE Vocational School of Health Services, who pointed that play was a serious business, said that children learned about themselves and the world around them through play.
STAY CALM IF CHILD STUTTERS!
When the pace of thinking exceeds the pace of speaking it may cause temporary stuttering in children. The real responsibility lies in parents. They need to stay calm but be attentive. Evidence shows that almost 80% of all children who begin stuttering will outgrow this phase over a few weeks or months, however psychological issues, stress, and negative feelings trigger disfluency.
FEMALE OBSERVERS FOR US ELECTIONS
As the whole world is closely watching the race for United States presidential election of 2016 between Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, and Donald Trump, the Republican Party's presidential nominee, 9 women from Turkey are observing the elections. Itır Bağdadi, Lecturer of Department of Political Science and International Relations, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), who was invited by Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) to observe the American political system and voters in Washington D.C, said that Donald Trump lost her support due to his discriminatory remarks especially towards women.
D-8 COUNTRIES GATHER FOR COLLABORATION
The D - 8 countries Bangladesh, Iran, Nigeria, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Malaysia agreed on developing business relations. More than 30 representatives gathered at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) for ‘D-8 Chambers of Commerce and Industry Izmir Meeting’ for collaboration in education.
‘INTEREST RATE CUT’ DEBATE IN CRYSTAL GLOBE
Dollar, which started the week with 3.09 to 3.10 Turkish Lira range, started an upward motion based on remarks about presidential system and referendum, and Mosul operation. Halit Soydan, Lecturer at IUE Department of Economics, and Former Managing Director of Yapı Kredi and Garanti Banks, commentated on the increase in dollar and decrease in interest rates and he said, “The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) would not risk interest rates at such a twist.”

FOOD DESIGN; A NEW BRANCH OF TOURISM INDUSTRY
Tourism industry is being embellished with food design. Experts state that culinary culture is well progressed in Turkey and with a little touch of design in food, gastronomy tourism would become more widespread. Food Designer Egemen Tamcı, IUE Graduate of Department of Industrial Design, points out that new touches to the conventionalism are needed in order to globalize Turkey’s culinary culture.
WASHING HANDS PROLONGS LIFE
Hand washing is often cited as the primary weapon in infection control. Typical person's hand can carry 10,000 to 10 million bacteria. The experts point out that about 50% of child deaths, especially in developing countries, is preventable through hand washing habit. Dr. Dilşen Oktay, Lecturer at IUE Department of Culinary Arts and Management, stated that lives of thousands of children could be saved by frequent hand washing.
