LEARNING PROCESSES ARE UNDER SCRUTINY
The science world is bringing the process people go through during “learning” to light. The reactions occurring in neurons, the basic information processing structures in the central nervous system, during learning phenomenon are being revealed via image processing system. So that, healthy cells and cells in which learning does not occur will be compared, new approaches will be developed for those who have learning difficulties.
BRIDGE OF ART
Turkish textile is stretching its borders from Izmir to China. Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, will be representing Turkey in Beijing with her artwork on felt. Adanır has been the only artists to have been accepted to “From Lausanne to Beijing, 9th International Fiber Art Biennale 2016”’ that will take place in Shenzen China in September. Lecturer Jovita Kurnaz, from IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, will represent Lithuania with her artwork also. This way, IUE will shine out at the biennale with its 2 academicians.
TIME OF SOLIDARITY
60 police officers, 3 soldiers, and 145 civilians were killed in action during Turkey’s coup attempt on July 15. As the whole nation united against the coup attempt, Izmir University of Economics gave a hand to the families of fallen police officers and civilians. IUE will offer full scholarship to the first degree relatives of fallen police officers and civilians.

Experienced experts are supporting prospective students to make undergraduate education choices at Izmir University of Economics. The expert guidance counselors, in addition to 60 students and all academic units, are guiding the prospective university students at IUE Conference Hall at 14 guidance and information tables. Students will be informed about their dream occupations as part of the “Izmir University of Economics Prospective Student Counseling Days” event which will go on August 2.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) is getting ready to train the new generation of engineers who will shape the future of Turkey. IUE Faculty of Engineering and Computer Sciences, Departments of Biomedical Engineering, Genetics and Bioengineering, Mechatronics Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering will be admitting students for the first time in the coming academic year.
GLOBAL POWER OF DESIGN AT IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS!
Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design became a member of Cumulus Platform, a worldwide platform for media, art & design universities. IUE will be participating in international studies with its partners in the platform which has members on a wide spectrum of countries including America, Australia, China, and South Korea. IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design will be the first university from Aegean Region to become a member of the platform, whose Secretariat is located in Helsinki, Finland, and promote Izmir in the area of design to the whole world.
IUE LOOKING FORWARD TO MEETING THE PROSPECTIVE CHEFS
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Culinary Arts and Management is getting ready to train the young chefs who can combine the exquisite flavors of Turkish and Aegean cuisine with their skills, and promote it to the whole world. The prospective students will start their education under the guidance of famous chefs after an aptitude test, a test only administered by IUE Department of Culinary Arts and Management. The deadline for pre-registrations is set as July 28.
GOOD NEWS IN HOME SALES
Turkey is going steady in house sales. In May 2016, 114 thousand 800 houses were sold in Turkey according to the data by Turkish Statistical Institute (TSI). House sales increased by 6.4% in May 2016 compared to the same month of the previous year, and Istanbul had the highest share of house sales with 21 thousand 638 houses sold. The followers of Istanbul were Ankara with 11 thousand 408 house sales and Izmir with 6 thousand 697 house sales. The least house sold provinces were Hakkari with 5 house sales, Ardahan with 13 house sales, Şırnak with 33 house sales.
IUE’S POWER OF DESIGN IN NARLIDERE
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Fine Arts and Design redesigned Güngören Street in Narlıdere. The project, after a yearlong study, was introduced by Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, Abdül Batur, Mayor of Narlıdere, and Prof. Dr. Can Muğan, Rector of IUE, at a meeting held at the Board of Trustees Meeting Hall. Güngören Street will go through series of renovations including signboards, exterior painting, curbs, lighting, and green areas. Narlıdere Municipality will put a building project out to tender in the beginning of 2017.
