Ancient city of Teos which is located at Seferihisar, first slow city of Turkey, has been the subject of a game. The “Temple of Dionysus at Teos” titled game appeared in Google Play and Apple Store for free. Students of Department of Software Engineering, Izmir University of Economics, who developed the game entered the “6^th Young Minds, New Ideas Project Market and Graduation Projects Joint Exhibition” and came in third place in the Category of Games, Entertainment, and Education.

Izmir’s EXPO candidacy process changed lives. 46 students from 40 countries, who studied at Izmir University of Economics with EXPO Scholarship initiated by Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, during Izmir’s EXPO candidacy process, turned back to their countries following their graduation and became volunteer ambassadors of Izmir.

Different types of intelligence affect our career choices. The experts state that making right career choices happen when people know about themselves better. They suggest more than 1.5 million prospective university students to determine their type of intelligence before they make decisions about choosing the program, department, university in July.  

Experts needed by the business world and the digital era are trained at Izmir University of Economics Graduate Programs. The application process, for Izmir University of Economics (IUE) master’s and Ph.D. programs for fall semester for youth and professionals who want to hold a graduate diploma and choose a different path for their careers, still continues. Seaside towns are getting fully packed with schools and exams being over. The experts, however, warn citizens against the danger of drowning. The experts warn citizens who will be spending their holiday at sea or at pools, and point out that properly trained lifeguard should be employed at such places.

The Turkish saying, ‘Bir fincan kahvenin kırk yıl hatırı vardır (A cup coffee starts the friendship of 40 years)’ is verified by 3^rd generation coffee lovers. In her research on daily coffee consumption habits, Ekin Dorak, student at Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, found out that 60% of the customers viewed 3^rd generation coffee houses as a social atmosphere, and that more than one cup of coffee was consumed throughout the day.

Young IUE architects are going to display their urban design, they based over tweets, in England. Students of Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics will be representing Izmir at the “pop up city” themed design festival hosted by University of Westminster in London.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) held “Graduate Student Advising” titled workshop. The workshop, co-organized by IUE Graduate Schools of Social Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences, Business, and Health Sciences, focused on graduate student-advisor communication. IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Şımga Muğan, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar, 71 academicians from graduate schools and faculties, and graduate school students attended the workshop.

IUE architects gave a new direction to architecture through the theme “flow”. Senior projects of students of Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design; Izmir University of Economics (IUE) equipped Basmane and Karaçam Village, Bornova with social living environment. They also came up with new designs on the effects multi story buildings on urban life.

Department of Translation and Interpretation, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) hosted a panel titled, “An Ecocritical Approach to Children's Literature and Translations”. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Necdet Neydim, Assoc. Prof.  Dr. Oğuz Özdemir, Asst. Prof. Dr. Banu Akçeşme, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Önder Çetin delivered presentations on children’s literature, ecological literacy training for children, ecocriticism in Turkey and worldwide, and representation of environment in English text books in the first session of the panel.
