IZMIR BECAME A MEMBER TO NETWORK OF GOURMET CITIES
Izmir has joined DELICE Network of Gourmet Cities, including 23 cities leading in gastronomy worldwide. Aziz Kocaoğlu, Izmir Metropolitan Mayor and Ekrem Demirtaş, Chairman of the Executive Board of Izmir Chamber of Commerce (ITO) and President of IUE Board of Trustees, signed the membership agreement in Lyon, France.
NEXT GENERATION OF COMPUTER GAMES
Digital game sector’s most important game development organization Global Game Jam’s (GGJ) Izmir leg gathered software developers and members of computer world together at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). 100 participants worked for 48 hours to create computer games at the organization which was also visited by Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, and IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen.
DESIGN IN THE KITCHEN
Range hood, oven, and stove top, the essentials of a kitchen, are being redesigned. Students of IUE Department of Industrial Design, made the kitchen equipment more safe and handy, as part of the design studio course they took. Approximately 35 students working on built-in products determined the current trends.
STUDENTS WARMING THE COLD WINTER NIGHTS
Cold winter nights are getting warm with “Çorbada Senin De Tuzun Olsun” (have a hand in) campaign intended for mainly homeless people and everyone that has to work outdoors. Ece Altınörs, Student at IUE Department of Computer Engineering and Sibel Arslan, Student at International Trade and Finance, bicycle through the streets of Izmir and put a smile on faces who are in need.
THE LIGHT OF EDUCATION ON MILAS
A protocol was signed between Reşit Özer, Chairman of Executive Board of Milas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Ekrem Demirtaş, Chairman of Executive Board of Izmir Chamber of Commerce and President of IUE Board of Trustees, for a bright future of Milas youth. First degree blood relatives of members of Milas Chamber of Commerce and Industry qualified for 15% discount in annual tuition fees of Izmir University of Economics as part of the protocol. Along with Demirtaş and Özer, IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, Mehmet Yiğit, Vice Chair of Milas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Halil İbrahim Gülen and Soner Çamlıbelen, Members of the Executive Board the ceremony that took place at Milas Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

As the students are excited about getting their first semester report cards, the experts state that students and their parents need to come up with a plan to spend some quality time together. Experts, who remarked that time spent together during holiday strengthened the family ties, also was a good opportunity to find out about children’s interests and abilities.
GRADUATES MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, who indicated that 10 million people graduate from universities worldwide each year, stated that they trained the children of the digital world and that the youth, who produced knowledge and made a difference, existed. President Ekrem Demirtaş, IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, IUE Consultant and Lecturer of National University of Singapore Seeram Ramakrishna, and Visiting Scholar Prof. Dr. Philip Kitchen, deans and members of board of trustees attended the 3rd International Advisory Board Meeting.
GRADUATE DEGREE: WAY TO IMPROVE CAREER
Izmir University of Economics (IUE), started enrollments for master’s and Ph.D. programs for spring semester for youth and professionals who want to hold a graduate diploma and choose a different path for their careers. Students will get a chance to improve themselves on a wide variety of subjects from electronics engineering to finance, from logistics management to health institutions management offered with thesis or non-thesis options as well as distance learning.
