COMPUTER GAME WORLD AT IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
Digital game sector’s most important game development organization Global Game Jam’s (GGJ) Izmir leg will gather software developers and members of computer world together at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). The event with 100 participants will begin on January 23 at IUE Conference Hall. Software developers and designers will develop ‘tomorrow’s’ computer games in 48 hours.
MANDOLIN TUNES AT IUE
The audience was delighted at the mandolin concert that was performed at Izmir University of Economics with collaboration of State Theatre, Opera, and Ballet Employees Benefit Foundation (TOBAV) in order to promote mandolin, a musical instrument used to play various types of music.
TURKISH TV SERIES IN CULTURE INDUSTRY
It has been stated that Cairo and Damascus, considered as the capitals of Middle Eastern culture industry, became dysfunctional due to the Arab spring and civil war issues. Asst. Prof. Dr. Zafer Yörük, Head of IUE Department of Cinema and Digital Media, stated that Turkish TV series offered a modernization realm that fit Middle East societies.
WATCH OUT FOR HEAT LOSS IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES
As Turkey is experiencing cold weather and precipitation coming from the Balkans and the Black Sea region, the experts reported that people preferred cheap and unhealthy methods for heating. It was stated that people used wood, coal, fuel-oil and natural gas for heating, and good insulation of the buildings was necessary for an affordable heating.
UŞAK-IZMIR SHOOK HANDS
A protocol was signed between Mustafa Kuvvet, Chairman of Uşak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, Rector of Izmir University of Economics, for the future of Uşak students. First degree blood relatives of members of Uşak Chamber of Commerce and Industry and district chambers qualified for 15% education discount at IUE as part of the protocol.
FUTURE OF FETHIYE IS AT IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
A protocol was signed between Akif Arıcan, Chairman of Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, Rector of Izmir University of Economics, for Fethiye students. First degree blood relatives of members of Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry qualified for education discount at IUE as part of the protocol. Along with Arıcan and Prof. Dr. Esen, Burhanettin Tuna, Vice Chairman of Fethiye Chamber of Commerce and Industry attended the protocol ceremony that took place in Fethiye.
‘WE ARE PROTECTING CHILDREN’
İbrahim Altıtaş, Judge at Izmir Juvenile High Criminal Court, stated that juvenile courts were special fields and their primary purpose was to protect the child rather than prosecuting and penalizing. Altıtaş also stated that drug related crimes, where children were abused, increased 5 times.
HOPE FOR DISABLED CHILDREN
Felt and chocolate came together and became hope for disabled children. Handmade felt hats by students of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design got glamourized with chocolate decorations prepared by students of IUE Department of Culinary Arts and Management. The proceedings went to Buca Municipality for the construction of playground for disabled children. Students of both departments shared the happiness of disabled children as part of the project co-conducted by ‘İçimdeki Çocuk’ Association.
SLEEPING WELL IS THE FIRST STEP TO LIVING WELL
The experts stated that every ten people in Turkey experienced sleep problems and that total sleep time in adults decreased 2 hours on average. Deniz Talaz, Lecturer at IUE Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing, pointed that quality of sleep depended on an uninterrupted and enough amount of sleep at an appropriate time.
