SWEET EXPERIENCE WITH FRENCH DESSERTS
Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Culinary Arts and Management learned the niceties of baking cakes and pastries from French Master Chocolatier Sebastian Bouillet, Chef of Les Toques Blanches Lyonnaises. Students, who took a journey into the colorful world of sweets, discovered the details of baking cakes and pastries.
MEMBERS OF ITO EDUCATION AND HEALTH FOUNDATION WELCOMED 2015
The founding organization of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Izmir Chamber of Commerce Health and Education Foundation, welcomed 2015 with its members at a New Year’s party held at IUE Conference Hall. The members enjoyed a night of dances and songs, and wished each other a happy new year at the party hosted by Ekrem Demirtaş, Chairman of the Executive Board of ITO Health and Education Foundation. Chairman Demirtaş and the Executive Board cut the New Year’s cake together. Yusuf Öztürk, CEO of Chamber of Marine Commerce Izmir Branch, Hasan Denizkurdu, former Minister of Justice, IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen and guests attended the party.
PARAMEDICS SHOULD RECEIVE UNDERGRADUATE TRAINING
It has been emphasized that in Turkey paramedics were the healthcare professionals who provided medical care to sustain life, and they needed specialization in authority and employee rights. Sinan Nural, Chairman of Paramedic Association of Turkey, who delivered a speech at the Paramedic Day event organized at IUE, pointed out that paramedic training in Turkey should be offered at undergraduate level.
‘BRAND CITY IZMIR’
Students of Izmir University of Economics, Department of Visual Communication Design, designed Izmir. Students got a chance to design brand identity regarding different areas of the city at the ‘Expose Yourself to Life’ titled workshop supervised by Stefano Cardini, Course Leader of the Master in Visual Brand Design. 7 distinctive designs were presented to the audience at Izmir Chamber of Commerce where Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees also attended.
SWEET DREAMS ARE MADE OF PAPER
China’s popular New Year’s tradition revived at Izmir University of Economics. Students, taking Chinese as a second foreign language at IUE, got hands on training on Chinese paper cutting, which Chinese people believe that can bring good luck, piece, and happiness to the whole family. Students and academicians put their wishes for 2015 on paper at the fun activity guided by Zhiping Xu, Chinese Art Teacher from Chinese Consulate of Izmir.
FUTURE LAWYERS RECEIVED GUIDANCE
It was stated that attorneyship was a civil service and that justice seekers were looking forward to young lawyers helping them. Distributors of justice came together with students and shared their experiences as part of the "Faculty of Law Career Day" event organized by Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Law. İbrahim Altıtaş, Judge at Izmir Juvenile High Criminal Court, Murat Ergün, Member of the Executive Board of Izmir Bar, and Duygu Mutluel Secretary General of Izmir Chamber of Commerce attended the event at the Conference Hall.
‘TIGHTEN THE BELTS IN 2015!’
Halit Soydan, Lecturer at IUE Department of Economics, and Former Managing Director of Yapı Kredi and Garanti Banks, stated that it wasn’t easy to interpret finance neither worldwide nor in Turkey during the last days of the year, and that the excessive value of Turkish Lira should not make anyone happy at a time where ‘currency wars’ are in question. Soydan, who evaluated Turkish and world economics just before 2015, said “it is not possible to see through in all branches of monetary economics from time to time.”

Students from 5 continents around the world came together at the 1st International Students Day held at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). Over one thousand foreign national students from 114 countries had a chance to meet each other and share their cultures at the event organized by “Study in Izmir”, a sub study group of Izmir Universities Platform that is established by 9 universities in Izmir.
FUTURE LAWYERS OF IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS ARE AT IZMIR COURTHOUSE
Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Law built their future in the corridors of Izmir Courthouse. Students, accompanied by Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, observed a case in the high criminal court, and visited Mustafa Doğru, Chief Public Prosecutor of Izmir, Aydın Özcan, President of Izmir Bar Association, and Mehmet Arık, President of Izmir 1st Commercial Court of First Instance.
FUTURE PERSPECTIVES AT 2ND ISTANBUL DESIGN BIENNIAL
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Architecture attends the 2nd Istanbul Design Biennial Academic Program with their 9 graduation projects under the theme ‘Future Perspectives’. The exhibition, which was prepared with the contributions of Asst. Prof. Dr. S. Bahar Durmaz, Lecturer Gudjon Thor Erlendsson, Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanos Stasinopoulos, and Research Asst. Ece Küreli, senior graduation project coordinators, will be open for visitors at Antrepo No.7 Karaköy address until December 14 within the scope of “The Future Is Not What It Used To Be” themed biennial that was organized by Istanbul Culture and Art Foundation.
