Cold pressed olive oil brings flavour to the table. Özgü Mehmet Manisalı, graduate of Izmir University of Economics- Department of Economics, brought along research conducted on olive oil in Tuscan Valley, Italy to Turkey. He brought the olive oil machine, which presses olive oil in 25 degrees cold that is rarely used worldwide to Turkey for the first time. And then Turkish olive oil started to receive awards from the most prestigious competitions worldwide.  

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) will be a click away for prospective students. The prospective students will be offered detailed information about the university life on IUE website. After entering the necessary information in the system, prospective students and their parents will be invited to Izmir University of Economics by the specialists. They will be informed about the application requirements for the departments they are interested in, and meet with the head of the department as well as lecturers and students from that department.

Izmir University of Economics hosted computer geniuses. The Aegean Region step of the Global Game Jam (GGJ) 2014, a worldwide event where participants are asked to develop computer games in 48 hours based on the assigned theme for that year, took place at Izmir University of Economics.   As the participants spent 48 sleepless hours, they worked on to design games based on this year’s theme, “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are”.80 participants in 15 groups took part in the Aegean Region step of the organization that was held in 8 centres all throughout Turkey. Sercan Altundaş, İnan Evin, Bahadır Sevim, and Can Ürük became in first place with their games named, “Psychic Baby”.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) came in first place among the 4 higher education institutions from Turkey that participated in the most environmentalist universities ranking worldwide. Izmir University of Economics ranked in 254^th place at the "UI Green Metric World University Sustainability Ranking 2013” list published for the 4^th time this year. Among other universities from Turkey, Sabancı University ranked in 260th, Bilkent University 290^th, and Inonu University ranked in 293^rd place.

Disabilities are being overcome with the outfits prepared by the lecturers of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. Outfits, toys, and trainer pillows for children with physical and mental disabilities were prepared as part of a scientific research project titled, “Fashion and Textile Design via Social Development”, organized by IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design. The outfits are ready to be used by the kids.

Computer games became a must of daily life as smart phones and tablets stepped in. According to the report by Turkish Digital Games Federation (TUDOF), over 1 billion people worldwide are playing digital games and the size of the industry is about 75 billion dollars. And Turkey takes part in this large pie as a consumer only. Izmir University of Economics (IUE), who wanted to reverse the process, broke new ground. Very soon, the industry will have university graduate game developers.

It has been reported that Turkey was experiencing a hidden devaluation, and Turkish Lira was going to continue to lose value, however, financial economics was not to get involved in politics. In an assessment made by the economists regarding the decrease in Turkish Lira against the increase in Dollar and Euro lately, it has been indicated that if the Turkish economy did not take the necessary measures, it would face the danger of dollarization.

Izmir University of Economics, Department of Mathematics helps students change their idea about math who perceive it as a nightmare, while the students of the Department took first steps to introduce math to children with disabilities through games as part of their project they developed.  

Design by Firdevs Tülin Gülhan, senior student at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design, came in first place among 350 others at the 5^th Bridal Design Competition organized as part of IF WEDDING FASHION SHOW- Wedding Dresses, Suits, and Evening Gowns Fair. Gülhan was presented her award by Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, and Aziz Kocaoğlu, Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. 

Bell rings for the last time for elementary and secondary education today and approximately 16 million students will go on a semester break. However, the parents are faced with the fear of their kids being sucked into a digital world. The experts believe that the holiday period would be a good chance to strengthen the communication between the child and the parents. Experts also indicate that children’s regular schedule gets messed up during this period and warn the parents to watch for their nourishment and not to let the kids to spend too much time in front of the computers.
