WATER CRYSTALS BROUGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
The young designer got inspired by the water crystals in the colourful world of fashion and created a bright path for herself. İpek Özyoldaş, graduate of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Fashion and Textile Design, combined her education and creativity in the competition, and realized her dreams. İpek Özyoldaş came in first place with her designs at 2nd House and Beach Apparel Design Competition held by Denizli Exporters’ Association. Özyoldaş received a money award of 8 thousand TL as well as a chance to conduct 2 year graduate studies abroad at an institution of her desire and an internship.
ENTREPRENEURS IN İZMİR WILL RECEIVE GRANTS UP TO 1 MILLION FROM KOSGEB
The entrepreneurs will be able to receive grant up to 1million TL for their new ideas, innovative projects through the “KOSGEB R&D, Innovation and Industrial Application Support Program” signed between Izmir Chamber of Commerce, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization (KOSGEB), Izmir University of Economics, and Izmir Bilimpark.
“5 STAR” TURKISH-FRENCH GALA DINNER AT IUE
Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Department of Culinary Arts and Management is taking firm steps with world famous awarded chefs in order to change the image of Turkish cuisine abroad, which is usually known for its döner-kebap duo, and to deliver its rightful status. French Chef Joseph Viola, who visited IUE as part of ‘Achieving a Star for Aegean Cuisine Project’, prepared exquisite tastes of French cuisine with students of Department of Culinary Arts and Management. IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Tunçdan Baltacıoğlu also took part in this meaningful event, the Rector put on the apron, entered the kitchen and helped with the gala dinner.

Based on September 2013 results of “Real Rate of Return of Financial Instruments” conducted by Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), while Euro made the investors gain a lot, deposit rates disappointed them. The experts worry about how much longer deposit rates continue to make the investors lose.

Izmir University of Economics qualified to have the “Entrepreneurship Flag” for their most number of enterprising projects in “Bu Gençlikte İş Var” titled competition organized by TUSIAD. Tayfun Bayazıt, Vice President of Board of Directors of TUSIAD, congratulated the impressive students for their innovative ideas, and entrusted the “Entrepreneurship Flag” to Izmir University of Economics at 2013-2014 Academic Year wishing many successful business ideas to be implemented.
IUE TRAINS STARS WHO WILL PROMOTE AEGEAN CUISINE WORLDWIDE
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) draws attentions with projects that will carry Aegean Cuisine to the international arena. 6 of the prospective young chefs studying at IUE Department of Culinary Arts and Management will be trained at Lyon, France, known as the Capital City of Chefs, by Michelin Starred chefs. While young prospective chefs will learn tips to achieve a Michelin Star for Aegean Cuisine, their careers will also acquire a new dimension.
EGGSHELLS WILL GLAMORIZE!
Two young entrepreneur chemists found a solution for wrinkles, which is a major problem for women as well as men. Active substances popular in cosmetics world and health sector will be produced by entrepreneurs supported by Embryonix, Izmir University of Economics incubation centre. With their “Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen and Calcium Carbonate Production from Eggshell Waste" project, the young entrepreneurs will produce the substance called collagen, one of the most expensive substances also known for its fighting effect on wrinkles, with a gram costing almost one thousand lira.
STAR INVESTMENT TO AEGEAN CUISINE FROM IUE
With its high quality education and universal vision in higher education, Izmir University of Economics add a new dimension to Culinary Arts and starts investing in “stars” in order to carry Aegean Cuisine to international arena. The awarded chefs affiliated to “Les Toques Blanches du Monde” in Lyon, France, known as the Capital City of Chefs, are coming to Izmir University of Economics as part of the Achieving a Star for Aegean Cuisine project that was started in 2012-2013 Academic Year. During October 21-23, conferences, workshops, tastings from Aegean and French Cuisines will take place.
