Izmir University of Economics, with its new vision, welcomes the youth who steps into the future business world. With the registration period that will begin on September 2, the students will get together with the faculty members more often at the University that will have a tremendous role in shaping their future.

The US Dollar broke an all-time record and reached 2 TL. The experts believe the dollar will stay steady for a little longer. While most of us are getting confused by the question of “Should I buy or sell dollars?” experts recommend trusting in Turkish Lira.
Halit Soydan, Lecturer at IUE Department of Economics, and Former Managing Director of Yapı Kredi and Garanti Banks, presented his opinions on the record breaking increase of dollar.

Education in different disciplines and a rich social life come together and produce a glamorous work life. Graduates of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), begin their career lives at prestigious companies following the education they receive. Nihan Özbay, who had double major in IUE Department of Mathematics and Department of Business Administration, works at sales operations department of Dr. Oetker.  Özbay said, “As I was studying mathematics at the University, I decided to go for double major in business administration. The education I received was the main reason for my employment at my company today.”

Deniz Karaşahin, Lecturer at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Industrial Design, and a 2008 graduate of the University, brought his passion for sea into technology production. Karaşahin, won a total of 100 thousand TL “Techno-Initiative Capital Support Program” grant which was awarded by the Ministry of Industry, Science, and Technology, to develop autopilot systems that Turkey imports for sailboats. The systems are on sale for extremely high prices and their replacement parts are not available in Turkey. Karaşahin, who started his project to develop these systems in Turkey, is moving the technology demanded by the sector to a whole new level with his designs. 

It has been emphasized that the importance of social media in purchasing real estate, which is identified as “most profitable investment”, reached a remarkable level, and with the Reciprocity Law, the foreigners started to invest in Izmir after Istanbul. Between the months of January-June of this year, total of 7 thousand 145 real estates were sold to 7 thousand 761 foreigners. It was indicated that the foreigners were interested in Izmir that attracts attentions with its shores.

Izmir University of Economics EKOKENT (Centre for Regional Development, Urban, and Environment) Research and Application Centre Directorate is getting all the attention with the consulting services it provides to the leading companies of plastic sector as part of the Declaration on Supporting the Development of International Competitiveness (URGE) by Ministry of Economy. 

The students at Sustainable Energy Graduate Program, which is being offered by Izmir University of Economics Graduate School of Social Sciences, are being employed at prestigious jobs even before they graduate. Students, who are working on their thesis after the completion of the first year of the program, take part among the most demanded names of the business world after a high quality education provided by the expert academicians and professionals.

Increasing disputes due to developments in trade will be resolved more quickly by the lawyers who will get expertise at “Special Law” graduate degree program offered within the Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Graduate School of Social Sciences. The lawyers will get specialized in trade law, law of obligations, civil law, maritime law, and business law, and find solutions to legal problems of the business world.

Izmir University of Economics (IUE) is blazing a trail in graduate degree programs with “distance education model”. The business administration graduate degree program (e-MBA) offered by IUE Graduate School of Social Sciences will allow students to receive education without having to come to the University. Also, a business administration program in Turkish will be offered for the first time for Special Law and Executives. The youth will create a new vision for themselves in business life in addition to their academic lives at IUE where applications for graduate degree and Ph.D. programs started. Interested parties may apply until September 5 for graduate degree programs, and attend the informative meeting on August 28.

Right before the local elections, where the political world got more dynamic nowadays, it has been pointed out that the politicians, who opted to manage technology rather than use it in social media, would be more successful. The social media tools, which have major impact on our everyday lives, also attract the attention of today’s politicians. It was reported that the politicians, who try to use social media tools such as Facebook, twitter, etc. in their campaigns, would overtake their competitors if they managed these tools.
